I was wondering if anyone knows how to use this. It is a snap on MT2500. It seems so far that I would be able to check my obd II with this. Was wondering has any info on this that would be able to help. I inherited this by the way and it has the GM software, but it looks like the obdII can also be used in universal. Any help appreciated. I am reading the instructions so if I make any progress I will let yall know.

Yeah the 2500 is compatible with just about all obdII systems. You have to buy the specific programs for the manufacturers to get it to read the ECU. It's not as through as a factory scan tool but it's damn close. One of my buddies has one so if you need some really specific info lemme know and I'll see what I can do.

Any info would be great since I dont know much. It looks like I can use it to just read the output of the odb II sensor with the universal sensor, but I am not sure. I have the obd II connector. I have the domestic cartridges to 98 or 99. With the K2 key it looks like I can check the codes in universal OBD II ceoonection just without the car specific help. What I am thinking though is if I can get the code I can then look it up in my manual. Any help on this would be appreciated.

Also does he have it for his protege. How much do the cartridges alone cost. I could only find the kit for 1600 thats a little steep for me. If you know what cartridges and how much that would be great. I already found the connector.

I don't know how much the cartirges (sp??) are right off hand, but I'll look them up. As far as which one the general mazda cartridge should do it. I'll talk to my friend by the end of the week and post here...

Well boys and girls I got my car back with one new coil today and it ran good except it was stumbling a little bit. So I thought I would decide to got to the bank get some money and get new NGK spark plugs. Guess what on my way to the bank my check engine ligh came on. Well instead of being like damn, I was like yes a chance to use my scanner and see if it works. Well it does and damn good. Checked my code with the OBD and it read the number and problem, misfire in cylinder 1. Ran rite back to my dealer ( I live down the block from my Mazda dealer) to show them and they ordered me another one and said it should probally be in by friday to come back and that it should be alright to use my car, but I wont unless I need too. But that is not the end, I decide to play with the scanner and I can also monitor the engine why its running. This thing is great, I can read o2 sensors outputs, RPM, Seedo, intake air temp, water temp, ignition adv. and so on. So I wnet driving around a little and this is what I found, Intake air temp is like 40 - 43 degrres C at idle and about 23 C moving. Speedo is on point to the tee. I found that my tach reads about 150 RPM's higher at 2 1/2 to three ( I didnt stay at a constant RPM to higher then that on a constant basis to give any other RPM readings rite now). This thing is real good. When I get my new coil in I will put my intake on and tell yall if my intake temp changes and by what.

Peace

i am planning on buying a snap on mt2500, and i was wanting to make the right choice... will it read all the motor, trans, wires, fuel pumps, and other stuff??? I have read the forum and for what i understand some people likes it and other poeple dont... I just dont want to waste the money on something that is not going to check the car out. please email me at drsmiles23@neomail.com and let me know what you think, thanks

if your not working on a bunch of different cars, then this is not for you.
if it's just to use as a scanner for your personal vehicle then your much better off with a $150 scanner.
the reason this costs what it does is because of how universal it is for all makes and models.

I have used this POS scanner extensivly, and for the era it was made it's great, but that was a long time ago.
now I use a Snap-on MODIS(but that ****** cost us $9000)

Its for personal use only on my own cars and vans, Im paying 580.00 it and dont mind paying that if its what i can use. What does it all read on a car. Now on this snap-on mt2500 can it still read the cars even tho your computer is shot on cars or whatever? I do what one i just dont wanna throw money away on something that wont do any good for me. Please let me know thanks for the reply

if the ECU is shot, then either you can't read it,or it will give you BS data.

but really, you are better off just getting a universal OBDII scanner for a lot cheaper.

snap=on doesn't support this tool anymore, they changed to the SOLUS.

you need to get the asian import cartridge then get the "maz-1" connector to have near-full mazda specific access... of course you'll also need the K-9 key for other s***

I am pretty sure mazda is K2-A isn't it?

and if it's OBD II he doesn't need the MAZ-1

there's still specific functions that you have to access through the underhood diagnostic port
