Smashed Fog lights

Hay Guys One of my fog light is smashed by a MFr that threw a beer bottle out of his Lawn mover (Honda :)). I went to the dealer to replace it ,but i have to buy it as a pair and the cost is $210 + tax cdn. i thought of replacing them with after market lights. which one should i go with? i need something that is atleat 100W, becasue i mostly drive in night time and i love to have bright lights. i prefer to have Fog& Driving lights the problem in toronot is most of the stores carries the catlog only i have to order the lights from it, if i need one. but how can i order them with out finding out whether it will fit my car or not?

ne help from ne of ur guys?

PIAA 540, shoudl be direct fit =)

catch a pair on ebay for about 80$

yeeeowch! I have a chip in one of my fogs but it doesn't seem to have really cracked to be compromised to the point where moisture is getting in. Best of luck with the replacements!

First companies that come to mind are PIAA and HELLA ...

Hey Toronto i had the same thing happen to me this year...damn Hwy 404 every day....it was bound to happen.

If your dealer is telling you that you have to buy them in pairs theyre ripping you off...I got mine at Avante and I only had to buy one. Think it was 120 or something like that before taxes....join up for toprotege.com and you get a 15% discount or thereabouts on parts....Anyways just wanted to make sure you didnt get scammed...whos your dealer?

Equinox !
PIAA 540 is only 55W, is it possible to fix PIAA 580 Series in there? it seems like 580's dm=169mm and depth = 80 mm.
and its 85W=135W, i hve no clue what that means but i assume it would be brighter than 540. Any recomendations?
thanks

Well I have 520 series fogs, which only fit in the larger holes of the wingswest bumper I have. But lots of people have done the 540 swap. Don't wory about wattage and what not, it's really not that important, or shouldn't be. Lower wattages tend to last longer anyways.

Funny this happined to me today/

I must of got hit buy something, But I can by one side the part number for the left side is TC865169X $ 125 bucks..

don't the 540's have that ugly black plastic piaa design to them? Or does it come off? How much are they normally?

newf
those covers come off man. but ne ways if i'm going to replace my lights with 540 i will be leaving the covers on to protect my glass. oh by the way i walked in to a performance store in scarborough and found a set of 540, it's $287 + Tax CDN. May be i'll go for it since it looks cool.

one more question to u guys, any of u guys fixed your front end squek successfully? Mine is driving me nuts now, even over a little patch lines on the road...as i mentioned in my earlier thread, the dealer wont look in to it. For sure he will say "OH IT'S A TRADE MARK FOR MAZDA, EVEN THE B.NEW ONES DOES THAT". Damn MAZDA.

PIAA 540

Do you have to replace wires for this?
Has anybody done this?
How hard and long did it take?

IS that 287 with the harnesses, and switch? Basically everything you would need to hook it up ? I ask because it would be a great way for people wanting to get the Grey Mazdaspeed 2003.5 and put some fogs in it.

The factory lamps are just way to $$$$

WEll, It come as a hole set (means wire, switch and relay). As long as you know how to follow the instructions there wouldnt be any problems in installing it. i guess it's allwas good to do a new wiring when you install an after market light (for your safeside). the problem in following their instruction is that you wont get your light to work when you switch on your head light (if you want to do that, then have to spend quality time and some skills required too), your fogs will be controlled by a seperate switch. Any way i got one light for $50 (used) :-). at first i thought it was a hot stuff, then the guy showed me his broken light and he even coustem made his bumber so our stock lights wont fit ne more. the one i bought is also broken, one of the screws at the back is broken. i dont really care because it wont affect then light ne ways. I replaced the bulbs to 100w and installed a relay and change the wiring too becaue the stock ones wont handle 100W. it took me about 45 min to do the wiring and installing the lights. so i guess the timing is epending on your skills. Atlest my problem is solved for now for less than $75 CDN (Light $50, wires, relay, conecters- $25) , what a cheap guy eh ...heheheh.......

Toronto,
the front end sqeak question...take it into the dealer, they need to replace the front bushings. Get the back done while you're there with the "D" part number bushings...
belive me with the front and backs done both at the same time, it feels like a completely different car (in a good way) :) good luck!

When i went there to get my back one done they did replaced the front ones but still the same pblm. well again i'm going to go there to get the "D" thingy done so i may as well ask them to look at front end again (although those idiods aiint intrested in front end problem). let see what hapens. Oh i have to wait for a couple of weeks to get my parts bcuz they are on back order.

I'll dig up my part numbers at home for you and post them on this thread. you could then ask them if that's the part that they are changing and if not, to try. They are probably just lubing your shocks or something...
good luck, I'll be back tonight
