SLS Performance Front Motor Mount

I orignially bought the front and rear SU mounts in a package but, I never installed the rear mount. Front one shook me enough that I didn't have the guts to install the rear one too.........

i just installed mounts today. The install was alright only because the bolts were such a b**** to get off and its in a tight space. Use an impact wrench if you can, i borrowed my buddys and it made the job a WHOLE lot easier. Im reallly happy with the outcome, The vibrations are minimal and u can barely feel it at idle, but my idle is slightly rough. i think i need to clean my egr valve. but anyways the car feels a lot better and you should get them!

Hey man, how many miles are on your car ? I've got almost 86,000 miles and my rear mount seems fine. I get very little motor movement with only the front mount in.

word.

I'm a little worried though cause after a few weeks I can feel significant engine movement again with the front SLS mount installed. I just ordered the passenger side mount to try and solve the problem.

Does AWR make a rear mount that SLS doesn't? Has anyone ever tried SU's mounts?

cheers

I'm at 105k, and my front mount was DEAD. I actually haven't looked at the stock passenger side mount, I just assumed its dead too....(scratch)

For the first few days the motor was nice and tight, a lot of vibrations though. Now the vibes are leaving, but I'm starting to get motor lash again. I checked the bolts and they are all tight.

maybe its just me getting used to the mount and feeling more subtle engine movement....

the more i look at my existing stock mounts, the more i think that replacing the front mount is like 90% of the battle to kill engine movement. Im not sure of the condition of my passenger mount, but i think it is still intact. from the looks of it, it is mostly solid rubber so even if something breaks or wears out its not going to have the slop of a broken front mount. Im not concerned at all about replacing the drivers side mount, even if there was one available, because it is 100% solid rubber, there is no airspace like the front or side mount. I havent got a good look at the rear mount so i cant comment on it too much, i imagine a replacement would probably help re-enforce the benefits of the front mount alone and i might be inclined to buy one.

i12drivemyMP5,
They are working on the rear, it's just ready yet. It was mentioned they were not happy with the way it is just yet.

Looking at the service manual, the only one that shows to be different is the one on the driver's side that attaches to the transmission not the rear one that attaches to the back side of the motor. Not sure why no one else would make a rear for AT.

Heres the stock side mount from the SLS website

some stuff is different on the automatics for the passenger side mount too.. I forget which way it goes, but the engine is either a little closer or a little farther from the chassis

Yes, passenger side one. I'm all good with that one. I want the rear one for a sportronic automatic.

I just got home today and found my sls performance front motor mount waiting on me, what I didnt expect to encounter in the swap was a totally torn up stock front mount with only 65k miles on it. Is this normal? What else might be hurt from running on a broken front mount? I know my sides looked cracked all the way around as well so those are probably next on my list. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention, my car doesnt shift hard anymore:) And the extra vibrations at idle are only felt in the floor board and dont really bother me at all.

Torn up mount is pretty normal at 65k, especially if you drive the car hard at all.

Mine was torn halfway at only 65k kilometres, which is like 40k miles, and I granny the car all day every day. Looks like lots of satisfied people with this mount. =)

Well ill let you know after a while if I have any problems but so far so good:) I just dont understand why they put such weak ones in to begin with.
