Sloshing noise from the back seat (maybe gas tank?)

Mazda CX-5 Touring
Hello everyone,

I have recently purchased a new CX-5 Touring FWD and I've been quite happy with it :) Lately I've been noticing that there is a weird sloshing noise from the back seat when I hit the brakes and come to a complete stop, and also accelerating from a stop. Almost sounds like the fuel in the gas tank but I can't be sure.

Only noticed when it's completely quiet (radio off) and at low speeds stopping/accelerating. Also happens when the gas tank is about 1/2 to 3/4 full.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

I sometimes hear gas sloshing in the tank. Depends on the circumstances. You get this in just about any vehicle. What else would it be?

I'd also look under the rear cover where the spare tire is. Maybe some whater got in somehow.

I hear it too, especially when backing out carefully, with multiple stops.
It is not loud enough even then. I don't recall hearing it in other times.

OK thanks! Just wanted to make sure I wasn't hearing stuff or it wasn't something else that was more serious.

Weird, have not heard this in all of the older cars I have owned. Just didn't expect newer cars to have poorer sound insulation. ALafya you are right, it is definitely more pronounced when backing out of my garage slowly.

Truth is, Mazda has often been criticized over the years for not using enough sound insulation. Now, with lightweighting, that's probably even more of an issue.

It is probably there but haven't noticed it yet. I usually have the stereo on all the time.

Yeah I noticed it on Friday when backing up after a long drive. Subtle but it was there.
