Sliding armrest

So I found that the sliding armrest from a 2010+ S can be installed in my girlfriend's iTouring. Problem is she's 4'11" and her current non-sliding armrest doesn't come anywhere close to her elbow with her driving position. My question is does anyone think the sliding armrest will reach? Can someone give an estimate on how far it actually slides? I'd hate to order and install it only to find it doesn't slide far enough to make a difference.

I have the armrest in my '13 speed...it slides out and the edge almost touches the e-brake when it's pulled up. Only problem is that it doesnt really "lock" in that position so if you put any force on it pushing it back it slides back.

Thanks for the heads up on not locking. I'll take a look at her driving position tonight and see if it fits the bill.

haha, just got a 2012 3i sedan today, traded in my 2010 3s hatch, and told the salesman to give me screwdriver and ten minutes because i needed the sliding armrest :) sadly, he didn't oblige :(
