Matabolism in everyone is different but if you notice that your ass is being given its own zip code, STOP !%#$$% eating so much and stop being so @%@5 lazy. Simple truth is if you eat healthy and exercise regulary you won't get fat. Oh and walking a mile twice a week isn't exercise. Try running 2 miles four times a week now your exercising.

I know this because I have spent many semesters learning about why people are fat.

When you are a baby, you were born with certain "fat genes" that determines whether you have MORE OF A CHANCE TO BE OBESE OR NOT. Your diet and exercise will then play a major role.

Why is it you think that men have more muscles than women? It's in the genes.
 
it is a gene thing i think...i do eat...a lot...and i still never get fat and all my fam is relativly skinny ...with exception of some...but hey metabolism is a key..i am very active and allways movin..so hwo knows....whut ever though...i am not to concernd wit my looks as of now but i know i need to gain weight....pretty quickly...just for my own insecurities....it sucks but ohwell

Really proud of you Diane! Keep it up! I just hit my goal weight and want to stop losing now. I'm not doing anything to lose any more, but have noticed recently that my weight just keeps dropping off. I don't want to lose so much weight that I lose my curves! I'm not a fan of the waif look. How does one maintain one's weight, not gaining, not losing?

I think that would apply to most people pretty well... But imagine someone really obese. Walking a mile at all would be hard as hell for them. Hell, when I started running a mile wasn't that damn easy and I am already thin. Anyways, food intake and exercise are the most important factors I think...

Oh Yeah, if you think running two miles four times a week is bad, try 5 miles 3 days a week. :p

I think that men have a different build than women for a variety of reasons, the two most important being genetics (like you said) and hormones. I have seen women that are built (ie muscle tone, stature, ect.) just like men, with the help of a little too much testosterone...

I tried a bunch of different junk to gain weight and had some pretty slow results as well. What I found that works was eating a lot of starchy foods and carbs after working out. Eat a snack before you go to the gym, then eat big when you get home. I averaged about 7500 calories per day of foods like peanut butter, potatoes, Spagetti, ect... Eat all the damn time, and maintain an exercise schedule... Eventually you will start gaining weight in muscle mass instead of fat, it is slow, but it is still gaining. It took me a year and a half to gain ~14 pounds... Oh well, good luck with it.
 
WOW first logical post ever. But mind you being fat isn't so much in the genes as the environement you are born in. If you are raised on twinkies and Mcdonalds you are chances are much higher of being fat then someone that choses to be a vegetarian.

It also varies on your motabolism, I have a very very high motabilism and can eat junk all day and actually lose weight cause I am not eating healthy. I brun so much calories in a day it's unreal.

Losing weight is 70% food, 10 weight training and 20% sleep.

Eat the right things at the right time and burn all of it's energy before you go to bed, exercise daily but not overly... and get your 8-9 hours of sleep.

I have 3 friends that are personal trainers and compete in weight lifting competitions.... Your diet is most important on how you gain or lose your weight. Your genes will make it a little harder for some then others.... but it's all achievable...

Like I told people, you guys really don't know me. You know the psycho side of me, the hurt, heartbroken little girl.

But I am a biology major going into the health profession so I have to know this stuff.
 
Ya know AH, even tho we've clashed a little, I've said it before that when you are posting with a cool head I have no problem with you at all.

Ok, I may not be a supermodel, but I have a killer bod, like boobie and legs. I am pretty cute too, I should change my screenname to Cutiepie or something.

If you ask Linux, he has more recent pics on his pc.
 
She wasn't making jokes AH....all she meant to ask was whether the pics we've seen(the family ones) were fairly recent. Have you lost more weight since March or just stayed about the same.

Lol I will say this...I did see enough of some certain pics posted a couple weeks ago to say that you definitely look to have some nice assets. :)

I am NOT skinny. I have more muscle than fat though so I'm no twinkie eater.

So in other words with another 10 pounds you'd look a little different.

And yes, I was the one who asked him to remove them(don't forget during the day I'm here all the time....I wasn't expecting to see that when I clicked on the picture! :eek: )

No, I wasn't trying to be funny, nor was I trying to insult you. I simple thought those pictures were from before you lost the weight. It was a bad assumption. I made it because you guys actually look happy in those pics, and you're obviously not together anymore. That lead me to think those pics were old.
