Sirius Performance Issues

Hello All:

I just bought a CX-9 and had the dealer install the Sirius kit as part of the purchase. I have installed Sirius remote units in two of my other cars, so I am very familiar with the service. I think the performance of the system in my CX-9 is poor and I wanted to see what experiences other people have had. In particular, we get an "updating channels" message 3-4 times per day versus once every few months on our other Sirius units (this message should indicate new or changed channels are being synched to the unit). We also have audio breakup which sounds like a CD mistracking very frequently (without any type of searching for satellite type message). I am driving the same basic routes as I do with my other cars and we almost never have any of these issues except withe the CX-9.

Is this typical for the CX-9 Sirius installation? Or are other people getting good, reliable performance, like I get with my other Sirius units. The antenna is installed per specs (I verified this). Any feedback would be extremely helpful before I contact my dealer.

Thank you.

The Mazda OEM unit is pretty old technology. I have an OEM Sirius unt in my Speed6 and have the same issues. I put my old Starmate Replay in our CX-9 and it works much better.

My CX-9 has updated itself a few times, but has been stable for several weeks. The intermittency may have something to do with the antenna's ability to pick up the FM retransmit if the satellite is obscurred.

Sirius Radio has a lot of issues

I am in the process of having the sirius tuner in my cx-9 replaced. it gets very bad reception and has been a problem since i have owned my vehicle. I have taken it in for service three times and they keep telling me that it works fine. Finally I called Sirius and they are replacing the tuner for me for free before the warranty runs out on it. I can not find where the tuner is located in my vehcile.
Any help?
