Hmm....I have both in my car. To be honest either is a good choice. Most people will pick one over the other because of certain programs or content.

Actually, I had already paid for Sirius. XM is a freebie with my new ALPINE unit.

I had xm in my car and ripped it out after two weeks. The music channels are horrendous and no better than regular radio. (Same 20 songs over and over)

Sirius has better variety of music, better signal quality (they use an additional satellite as opposed to more ground repeaters like XM), and if you are an NFL fan, it is no contest.

The only reason I got XM to begin with was that they had major league baseball. I'm a die hard baseball fan and I couldn't even live with the other programming to support my baseball addiction. I got SIRIUS and I've had it for three years now, and I'll have it in any of my cars from now on.

honestly, i'd say sign up for sirius' free online trial thing. sample a bit of their programming. i think xm does the same thing. it's all based on what you are looking for. depending on certain major sports (nfl, mlb, nhl, etc.) and if you're looking for personality driven programming. in my experience, xm is more focused on the music, where as sirius is more focused on getting famous people in their shows.

it's really all just a preference thing.

siriously xm for da win, sirius is slow and almost all the people I know that have it want to get rid of it and go with xm.And as far as variety xm does pretty good, sirius does not have as much local info as xm such as weather, traffic .

I've had Sirius since February and I love it, I love it so much I have sold friends and family on it. It really depends on what you want to listen to, for me Sirius has great content, looked at XM's channels and it seems they have less to offer to me at least.

Dan, do you have DirecTV? They have XM stations you can listen to. I think it's all of the XM stations, and they are up around 800 on the DirecTV tuner.

Depends on programming. XM has better punk, country, and upcoming artists. Sirius has better hip/hop and howard stern. Go with a player that looks best in your vehicle and go with that provider. XM has free online 3 day trial. you can keep setting up new accounts if you can't decide quick enough.

I didn't vote, but I didn't think Sirius radio was worth having in my car after a month, and so I took it out. I like rock, and while they don't play the same exact songs over and over, they do play the same artists all the time. There are like 8 channels of various rock styles, and at any given time you'll be able to tune in a Kiss song. I hate Kiss. Them boys can't play. I still have Sirius through my Dish Network TV, and don't use it that much. They still play Kiss, Whitesnake, the Scorpions, and Rush over and over and over and over....
The newer rock stations aren't bad, but I still don't think it's worth it. Personally I almost exclusively use my ipod in my car now. 2200+ songs on it set on random assures that I'm gonna hear a song I like without commercials or annoying DJ's. (Both providers have annoying DJ's) I vote for an ipod, and put your music on that. :)
