I ran across this inmy searches. I HAVE NOT TRIED IT yet but may buy this and try it soon.

I wanted to keep the stock HU but am now leaning towards single DIN. I'll only do it if I have a pocket with a door to use.

Subaru Forester has a Din pocket that may bolt in with a small amount of fab. $20 online and you can get one and it's already painted silver to match the P5 interior.

All these pockets are the same size, they usually just mount up differently.

If I buy it I'll do a writeup. If someone wants to pick one up and make it fit that would be great. 03+ subaru Forester pocket.

Why do that much work for an item you can aleady buy to fit perfectly in a pro?
Not to mention the silver is very unlikely to maych the protege Interior Silver.

Why? Because it is $20, not $80 for a simple pocket.
I may go to a junkyard and look around first.

They are not $80..I think when I priced one..it was like $45....Hmm...

But still...known fitment > ?? Fitment.

Where did you price it? I saw it on Mazdastuff for $80.

It's harder to find used though, so you'd have to search around for a while.

Looking at the photo again, I may not be getting this pocket. It might be a little smaller than the P5 opening as evidenced by the stereo above it. The stereo has no trim ring and the pocket is exactly the same size. I'm picking up an Acura CL pocket/door since I know it should work well. I used to have a CL and have done the install before.
$15 works out cheaper than the other options on the table.

I posted more options in this thread:
