Sight-Seeing Recommendations

I'll be heading to the Island the day after MITM, and since I've never been, and only have about 5 days before I have to start heading back home, I'm looking for recommendations for what to see while I'm there. I'll most likely be staying either in the Campbell River area or around Nanaimo, so I guess probably more to the south end of the island. I am planning on spending one night/two days in Victoria though since there's quite a bit to see.

If anyone from the that area would like to get together, it would be nice to see some of the coastal Mazda brethren.

Also, if anyone from BC is planning on attending MITM, I thought it might be nice to tag-team it back to the coast (or wherever you may live on the way ).

As for Victoria check out: whale watching, surfing, kayaking, the seafood, downtown Victoria, wax museam, provicial museam, the sites. Head up north on the island and check out Tofino.

Hell, I even like the ferry ride over.

Whale watching is definitely on my list of things to do, as is the provincial museum, and I've also heard that there are a couple of castles to check out? I expect to be spending a couple of days in Victoria, and then heading out to Campbell River and wherever my cousin's grandparents are currently moored (they live on a boat), so I'm not quite sure what the rest of our itinerary will be like.

Speaking of Victoria, any recommendations for hotels that aren't too pricey??

Well, this totally sucks, but it looks like I won't be heading your way after all... I've had a bit of a cash-crunch (as has my traveling partner), so we've had to nix the trip.

We'll still be at MITM, but I think we may go to Head-Smashed-In, possibly Drumheller, and/or do a leisurely drive up through the mountains for a day or two and see a couple of things we haven't before and then head for home.

Dion, I know that you're planning to be there for MITM; if you don't have to head back to the coast right away, you're more than welcome to join us, as is anyone else.
