Should I buy Protege 5 ?

It's a good car, if I had let my sister continue driving on my way back to campus (a 400 mile trip), we probably would have gotten 500 mpt so it's a good reliable car that is fun to drive most of the time.

This is what annoys me about P5:

  1. Windows rattle when open in the front doors
  2. Some plastic rattle somewhere inside
  3. Seat are very uncomfortable for trips longer than half hour
  4. Engine sounds like s***
  5. High rev 5-th gear on a highway
  6. Only good on gas if driven below 60Mph
  7. Paint chips very easily
  8. Rusty spots around back fenders from plastic rubbing against the paint
  9. Pretty loud ride
  10. My shoe gets stuck hitting plastic when trying to take my foot of the gas (very bad design)
Beside all of these things my car has been very reliable and handling is very good. Cant wait to get rid of it.

WOW! I agree with the paint chipping bad and the 5th gear rackett but everything else on that list I've never had any problems with...and I don't find her loud at all...she does have a tendancy to chirp though which sounds kinda cool.

The only thing that annoy's me about mine is that reverse has always stuck...

Also I find the seats incredibly comfortable...had to sleep in the car on a couple of occasions and believe me they are anything but uncomfortable.

It's a great car hands down..first time I seen her I drove by her ass end at the dealership and slammed on the brakes and thought wow...I was sold! After getting it I wanted to drive it all the time...and it made smile just thinking about it...and nothings changed...I'd live in it if I could. Best investment ever...

It is quite a big car but it's very compact and handles amazingly...very safe feeling car to drive and did I mention it's ******* HAWT! People are drawn to it. Sexy, sexy, sexy......

I'd do what buddy said, give the gf your car and you buy the P5 for yourself.

Clutch chatter, notchy gears, motor knock at 78,000. AC stopped working on fan speeds 1 and 4. Alignment problems. Headlights going out. Engine sounds "clumpy" and uninspiring.

Good things? Fantastic brakes. Man, you can hurt yourself with the force it makes when braking. I think that's the only thing I miss.

Stock dyno is typically about 105hp and 110trq. Peak torque is around 3600 rpm which is great for the freeway and HORRIBLE for trying to race anyone.

The thing I really hated about the car was shifting before redline. If you shift out at 6,000 it's faster than if you go to redline. It's kinda fun to hit the fuel cut because it doesn't even cause the car to jerk because it isn't pulling anymore. Ah....we all had a good laugh at that.
