Short shifter pros and cons

Do the bronze oil bushings from corksport replace the stock bushings that go back onto the kartboy shifter?Thats the only thing really stopping me from getting the kb because it seems like they'd make the shifter a little sloppy.

In reality a SS is so that you can shift into the proper gear before the RPMs drop below the speed of what the tranny will be once in gear. This is normally a problem in cars that have a lightened flywheel and the RPMs dance up and down like crazy. I find that I have to actually wait before I re-engage the gears to wait for the RPMs to match the tranny.

I had a SS in my WRX (factory STi) and I loved it. I hated having the stock throw. I also had to wait to engage the clutch between gears.

Don't get me wrong, SS rule and I'll be looking into getting one for my MP3 because I liked being able to shift casually without moving my entire arm, just my wrist.

Well, I guess the best thing to do would be to try as many as you can on other peoples cars and then go with the one you like. All SS are not the same! You may want to consider getting a new shift boot also while you're at it if you got the $.

A short shifter was a must for my wife's P5, and will be for my LX as well. Coming from a Miata, everything else feels like rowing a boat.

We got the B&M, and decided to forgo getting the KB bushings 'cause we tried a friends KB with bushings and it was too stiff and crunchy.

The other thing we did was to put a Voodoo knob on. This is also a favorite of the Miata community. It lowers the shifter, looks great and feels great.

We got the Pearl for her car 'cause it matches the silver in the P5 interior.

I'm not sure what color to get for my LX, but I will be getting one.

is that a pic with the SS on already? it looks like the stock height
That's with the SS. Notice how slack the shift boot is.
