Shift Problems!!!

Both of them from the shifter to the trans.

Trust, it sucks. If you wanna do it right you pretty much need to remove the dash. The first step is to get the cables out of the mounts inside the engine bay. They are bolted down, but the cables themselfs are held on by 2 kinda lock rings. They are just held down by friction.
Next you need to get to the firewall where they pass through, its mounted inside the car. Its at the base of the dash behind the stereo and if im not mistaken the heater core. There are a bunch of items you need to remove but i dont know exactly what they are. Then from there all i can say is good luck. it was a b**** and i cant guarntee you would like using my method.

To see if its your cables, remove them from the trans linkages and see if they are still easy to move around from the shifter assembly. If they are then your cables are not the problem in my opinion.

got a appointment at the local mazda dealership on tues so ill let ya know what they say. im taking my rear motor mount, MBC and AP off so hopefully they dont try to fuk with me on my warranty. its mazda certified, 7 years/100,000 miles. im up to 50,500 so ... we will see

So remove it from the shifter and the trans. Then test the linkage? I take it that it should slide easy?

I think removing them from just the trans side would be sufficient to see if they move freely.

You'd want to feel if the cables are moving smoothly in side it's jacket; I'm pretty sure there's nothing more to them.

I didnt start having issues until my stage 2 sts from twm. I would really hate to put it back to stock.

I will give this a try first though.

the guts are a steel cable, with a wire wrap around it to make a solid yet flexible jacket, then plastic. if you have kinked or bent the jacket and its rubbing you will notice it.

cars at the dealership. so far they think it may be the slave cylinder leaking and making the syncs disengage. they havent said a single thing about my mods so hopefully its all warranty. maybe ill get a new clutch if its leaking on it

slave cylinder is fine. they are gonna replace my synchros under warranty and i should have the car back by the end of the week. yay!

idk if it is or not yet... still grinds 3rd and 4th sometimes... im gonna let every thing settle and if its not better in a few 1000 miles its going back in. 3rd and 4th were replaced and all the synchros. but its not even half as bad as it was.
