Ive got a 2016 CX-5. While driving we heard what sounded like a gunshot and then we got a rush of air coming into the vehicle from the sunroof. . When we pulled off and opened the cover we noticed the sunroof had shattered. It was not open and the weather was mild out. Absolutely baffled what caused this and what to do to avoid it happening again. Anyone else with this problem?

I’ve basically heard rare stories of this happening to most brands & equipped models over the years.
I can’t recall specific reasons other than potential defect, thermal, or object strike
IIRC.. this should be paid out on comprehensive with insurance if going that route with replacement
