Shafted!

Well it seems Mazda has pulled a few fast ones on many of us who have bought an MP3.
1) The Z919 Z828 thing. That sucks.
2) The Floormat thing for our Canadian friends.
3) If it is true, that kid that claims he has an FS-ZE under the hood. (Jealous if he does) :)
4) The terrible thunking in the rear, and the orchestra of squeeks and other noise.
5) My "carbon-look" trim looks different then on all I have seen. Mine is actually grey plastic that has no carbon look what so ever.
6) If you go on to www.mazdausa.com, go to the page where it compares to the Lancer and the 2.5, it lists "Tinted glass", "Center panel - carbon fiber look", "Second row Manual head rests" as standard options. ????
CUSTOMER SERVICE ANY ONE? The other problem is that with all this s***, I still love it so goddamn much.

what a frickin rip...not even a goddamn full size(17") rim...319 from my local dealer...geez! what is this cluncking i hear of...i haven't noticed in mine.?

The whole head unit issue pisses me off! i got the z919. Also my car pulls to the right and i heard alot of others saying the same thing. (i haven't had a chance to take it in yet. Someone mention he got new tires from mazda?) This clunking sound i still have not heard?

I must be lucky since I have yet to notice a problem on my car. Remember guys, you do have a warranty so just take your car in and tell the the problem. They should fix it free of charge. And none of the MP3 (well at least in the US) has the FS-ZE motor. I'd be willing to put money on that. Yeah, the Kenwood deck thing does suck, but I knew about before I bought my MP3, so I made sure I got the yellow one. Derrick1623, what exactly do you mean hen you say "not a full 17 inch rim"? I'm a little confused as to what you mean.

Oh, ok. Yeah a full sized spare would be cool, but I'd rather not have the spare in their at all. Saves you some weight, plus we have road side assistance so. I'll use it if I get a flat. Does a full sized spare even fit in their?

Yea, but road side assistance will only put your spare tire on your car for you. What are you going to do if you get a flat, leave the car on the jack and go get you tire fixed??? And can you honestly say you notice any speed difference because of the spare tire not being there?? I think there is a large trade off between confort and convience, and less weight. Whats next??? Power windows, air conditioning, sub woofer??? They all add weight.

come on people...roadside assistance for a FRICKIN FLAT??? alright, maybe if your tranny drops or engines seizes, but not a flat...i mean, i'll change my own damn tire-thank you...no offense to those that would call them to do it for you, but geez!

I'm talking about noticing the difference in cornering without the spare while driving fast or autocrossing. I took out my spare and did notice a slight difference in cornering. That's all I was saying, you should try it and see before you post a stupid comment. And yes if I feel the need to take off my AC and power steering, I will do that. some people have different tastes. I'm actually planning on taking my MP3 to a track. So weight savings makes sense to me.

Then... Why did you buy the MP3, why didn't you get the ES 2.0 or something. All of that body work is a ton of weight when compared to the spare tire!!! It just seems stupid to buy a car with all of these toys and then take them off..?.?.? And its not like you can't take some things out on track day instead of leaving things out all of the time and then having to wait for mazda to come get you. Road side assistance will say "Where is your spare?" and then you will say "I took it out so I can corner faster." and then assistance will laugh and ask, "Well...what am I supposed to do then?" I am just making a smart comment to you stupid idea. Instead of taking your spare tire out why don't you run aroung the block and stop eating the week before the race and drop 10 pounds.
My point...You paid for a ton of extras that all add weight, and now you want to take them out. Plus... Racing voids your waranty.

Hey...I had a little vibrating/creaking issue going on with my new yellow MP3...and it was pissing me off. SO i brought it to the dealer...we rode around in it for 15 mins, and finally figured out that it was the rear SEATBELTS. Put some tension on them and they shut up. BTW, HOW can I find out what production # my MP3 is?

Where in the hell does it say that racing voids your warranty. That by far is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. So you're telling me you don't drive your car fast. because you're afraid of voiding your warranty. And to answer your question, yes I could have the ES, but you'd end up spending around the same amount of money once you get the suspension, sway bars, short shifter, and all the other goodies to get the ES to the level of the MP3. Did you think aboout that, because I sure as hell did. And that stuff you said about losing weight, that is just plain stupid. Once you start driving on tracks or taking your car to the drag strip, you'll actually start noticing how much weight comes into play. I bought this car for the handling and fun factor in the twisties. Now let see you buy an ES spend the money on the upgrades and I guarantee you'll pass up the price of the MP3. "Think before you post"

Apex,
dude, he's totally right... racing does void warranty. But no one is going to hook you up to a lie detector if you pull in for service, so what they don't know won't hurt. ;) Don't ask, don't tell.

Every mod out for our cars void our warranty anyway. I'd rather risk breaking something on the car while it's under warranty then breaking something while it's not warrantied. This way you un-mod your car, take it to the dealer and have them service it while it's still warrantied. Well since we're worried about the warranty lets not do anything to our cars at all performance related. People worry about the samething on the I-club. If the warranty is the issue, people are probably better off not moding the car at all.

Damn, this all started because I posted my opinion about taking out the spare tire.

Apex, :cool:relax man... just trying to inform you, and no, mods will not void the warranty, unless the dealer can prove that it is at fault for the breakdown. Example, your tranny blows, you have a CAI, there's no correlation, thay have to fix it. Now, you add a turbo and you blow the head gasket, you just bought yourself a pricey repair. Didn't mean to upset you. I race autocross and do the same thing with my spare, I leave it at my staging area. I also take out the sub and rear seat. Every ounce counts... you are right about that. So don't fret, I'm with you on the spare issue. I just wanted you to be knowledgable about the warranty. Race on brother!!!

Ya, weight does make a big diff on the autocross from my experience...people switch to lightweight batteries, take out their spares, go with lightweight rims (that's a BIG diff is it's a nice lightweight like the Racing Hart CP 035's). On the streets, it ain't really necessary, but what the hey, some people like it that way. Me, I wouldn't wanna spring for a battery that saves me 10 lbs but costs $200.

As for warranty, yes racing voids it, but like coolhand says, they can't tell if you did or not usually. Same with mods if you un-mod it before going back to the dealer. Watch out for OBD-II though...for example (and this is a VERY general example) you mod something and you do some bad tuning...say you lean out the engine too much somehow and it blows....the OBD computer has a history of the car's leani condition, so if you unmod it and bring it to the dealer...they may get suspicious when the history says your engine's been behaving a certain way previously, but they run it now and it's completely stock-spec. Some dealers could give you a hard time, while others may be suspicious, but since they didn't catch you at anything, just fix it for you.

After a particularly bad autocross day, I blew some engine gaskets on my old car, and brought it back to the dealer for warranty. They asked if I raced the car (and obviously if I answered yes, it's all over!), but I told them 'nope, never'. The guy looked at me, then fixed the damage under warranty without further comment. :D

Depends on the dealer though.

He had done what I'm talking. Race while it's under warranty and saved himself some money when things broke. Anyway, lets kill this post. We all agree with each other. I got your guys idea, you don't want to void the warranty and I respect your opinions. Anyhow, I just got pics from SEMA, look out for my next post....

:D
