Sedan Headlights in a P5

so, i cool guy is giving me his h4 hid bulbs

what kind of ballast do i buy? considering my p5 was h7.. or does that matter?

so....
the stock harness from my p5, the wire which ran h7 bulbs, will plug into any ballast i get to power the h4 bulbs?

Yes the ballast only has two wire's red + black those you just slip into the connector that went to the back of the h7 bulb's.The h4 hid bulb plug's into the ballast.

I just wanted to add my 2 cents to this. I know several people have said you can just use the wires from the P5 (9005 + H7) and wire it to the sedan bulb (H4). From what I can tell this is not acurate as the P5 Highbeam wiring uses a negative switch and the sedan wiring uses a positive switch (you'd end up with highbeams that are always on). I've heard mention that a relay can be used to make the sedan lights have high/low beams (with standard bulbs), but I've never seen any wiring diagrams on how to make/install, or where to buy.

I'm totally unfamiliar with HIDs but I would assume there would be a similar issue, unless the relay that Matt V recommends, takes care of this issue.

no...i think your misunderstanding something
the HID's plug into the stock low beam connector, and the high beam connector stays un-plugged, so if you go this route and dont rewire,
you wont have high beams in the sedan headlights, but with HID's you dont really need hi-beams

all HID's need is power and ground to run, since you say the sedans have a positive switch, and the p5's run a ground side switch,
the only real thing we need to do is flip the wires, and plug them in backwards lol

btw... im did it =)

@justanothermp5: I think we're on the same page, as I was talking about trying to get High and low beams working (Unless I'm misunderstanding your post). If you just want low beams, then it's no problem. Pretty much just positive to positive plug and play. If you wanted to get the high and low beams working with standard bulbs, there is some kind of black magic that needs to happen between the High beam wiring in from the car and the H4 terminal (that needs a positive signal) to attain high beam functionality with the sedan headlights.

I'm assuming this same theory is true for HIDs (if you wanted Bi-xenon), but it's really up to someone else who has done it since i'm speaking from experience for the standard bulbs, and "in theory" for the HIDs.

eh, did you have to change ur bulb fitments. or are you still using H7's since i got HIDs i like new headlights now

lol yesssuh... i got project all day since my belt snapped last night shiiit. now i gotta adjust my front coilovers and i like put in my new reservoir. and just ordeed my sidemarkers last night and now i gotta save up for my damn tires. i gottta get on it.

you go out to meets or what?
