Secondhand MS CAI and warrantee...

If I get a secondhand MS CAI and install it, will I retain my factory warrantee?

If yes, anyone have a secondhand MS CAI for sale?

in a nutshell, no. sorry for the bad news.

On the other hand, if you have a dealer who works with you, it shouldn't be an issue.

yes you will. mazdaspeed parts arent looked at as aftermarket parts on the car. if the dealer gives you crap because 'they didnt install it' or whatever and try to give you warranty problems they are just full of s***

im pretty sure they did try to get some bought back, or something like that..
any intakes that were installed after they issued the stop sale, may have problems with warrantees. but I really am not100% positive.

I thought there was only a stop sale on the part, I haven't heard anything about a recall for them. There is a stop sale in the US but I dont believe there is in Canada. If you just recently installed it Mazda will probably try to not honor your warranty. I havent heard any news from my dealer about a redesign or anything planned to fix the mysterious "problem".

MS CAI = Fail

oh dear(notcool)

there has been no actual recall for the cai. just a stop sale. my dealer has no idea if i bought it new or used and they didnt put it on but since its the ms cai they have honored my warranty work

ditch the mazdaspeed one and get CP-E or cobb SRI. No dealer can void your warrenty for having an intake. The only thing that could void your warrenty its hydrolock but you have to get the front of your car into 18" of water, witch should not happen.

Thats not true...They sure can void it for not having the stock intake or a mazda intake.

I bought one of the first runs of MS CAI from Showcase Mazda and installed myself. The dealer would never know when you bought or installed it they only care it is a Mazda part and will honor your warranty.

I asked about them installing and warranty issues and they would have to show that the installation fail caused a problem which is not going to happen if you do it properly. Now if you go in with your filter hanging off and say your engine is broke then no s*** will they void your warranty.

Here's the scenario running through my head:

I put on a Cobb SRI. Some time later, my front diff explodes:

Me: Dear Dealer, please replace my front diff free of charge.
Dealer: No, your intake makes too much power, which the diff can't handle, which caused it to explode.
Me: That's BS. Prove it.
Dealer: No. Sue us.
Me = ******.

I would be right in principal, but I, like a lot of people, don't have the time nor money to go after bastards that deny my warranty unjustly. A lawyer costs money, and if you lose you're out lawyers fees that would probably be more than actually repairing the car. And then you still would still have to repair the car! The best case scenario is everything, including lawyers fees, was paid, but then you would be out literally hundreds of hours. Not worth it for 15 whp and some cool noises.

That's not true about the recall or stop sale. Well atleast where I live. I asked the dealership about it the last time I went in and talked to them about warrenty and aftermarket parts. I asked them if they had a stop sale or recall and they said no. They then asked me if I would want one, and I told them they already installed one on my car. And they were like oh... And that was about... 3 weeks ago

MS CAI = Nice

HIGH FIVE!

its still true. just because they offered it doesnt mean they know what they are talking about. ask them to order it and see how far they get

stop sale

Yeah, I went in to my dealer a month ago with the intention of having my MS CAI installed, which they had ordered for me . . . The tech was trying to install it, ran into a problem and went to check the system for any technical notes, when he checked, it said they were not supposed to install it . . .

Basically, I think my dealer is a bunch of idiots. I think they ordered the MS CAI for a regular 3, not my speed 3 . . . that is why they were able to order it, had they ordered, or tried to order the right part, they would have gotten the note about the stop sale . . .

BTW, I am in Canada and the stop sale is obviously here as well.

The dealers really have bright people working there... Thats why I wont be taking my car in there to have anything done.

I would have thought a stop sale would effect everyone but there were a couple guys in western Canada that said they could get it no problem and the dealer offered it to them. My guess is it's a similar situation to yours where the dealers an idiot and just trying to make more money not knowing anything thats going on.

MSCAI Recall

Good Day
I bought my MS3 on 3/10/08 with the MSCAI & MS CBE + installation included in sale; I was to bring my car in on 3/17 for the install on the MSCAI and MSCBE.
I started going to these MS3 forums shortly after that and saw all this info on the stop sale of the MSCAI. I just talked to my salesmen and sales manager about my car and the CAI, I told them if they couldn't explain it fully there might be some legal recourse against them installing the MSCAI after the stop sale date of 3/14/08.
They where very courteous and sorry for the position they had put me in. That afternoon the manager got back to me and gave me the "Official Mazda Line".
He said there was a certain range of Vin # on MS3's that they had found a significant increase in CELs triggered complaints with cars equipped with the MSCAI, not many with drivability problems just the Check Engine Light! The manager confirmed that my VIN wasn't included in that VIN group and that I should have no problems. He also stated Mazda was going to get some re engineering done to the MSCAI so the unit would be a good solution for all VIN's, they also offered to replace the OEM at no charge and reinstall a new MSCAI when released(no eta).
I said I was happy with what I had , I had been in 5 degree weather, 14" of snow and raging rain storms up here in Wisconsin this year and no problems! Also ran a 13.63 @ 105, I have no complaints.
Just an FYI

I couldnt even get my dealer to give me that much info, its good to hear they are going to do a redesign, hopefully it doesnt take forever to come out.

13.63 for just CAI and CBE? sounds great. Thanks for the info.

Nice numbers....
What CBE are you running?

how easy is it to install one of those cobb SRI's? thinking about getting one and if i have to take my car to the stealership i will just throw the stock intake back on first.
