SCT Tuner

I sent SCT an email a few weeks ago and just got a reply on whether it was a possibility that they would make a programmer for the speed 3. They said :

"At this time we do not support that application. It is a listed
vehicle
to have support for in 2008. Please contact us in the summer for an
update."

Just thought I would let everyone know there might be another option soon if you guys didnt already know.

Well ill tell you one thing, if SCT gets on board with a programmer for the MS3, kiss the standback, cobb and Xede goodbye. No one will make better power than SCT's setup and easier to boot. For those who dont want to tune themselves, can goto any SCT tuner ( Hence Ford Mustang/Lighting Tuners ) and get dyno tuned on the spot.

I run SCT on my truck. Jerry, who is the owner of SCT was a Ford Engineer who designed the 4R100 transmissions found in the powerstrokes and lightnings. He left the company in 2003 to start SCT. He has DEEP connections within Ford and gets all of the ECU software directly from them, which means no reverse engineering or maniupulation. You get access to everything as if you were a Ford Engineer designing the flash for the production vehicle. Very good news indeed if this comes of fruitation. Im quite familar with the software, so it will be very easy for me to tune.

Haltech I hate to thread jack but are you associated with Haltech the company or are you just that big a suporter?

Awesome. I'd do an SCT in a heartbeat, assuming they could get the car to pull to redline. In a turbo application, can the SCT programmer generally manipulate boost pressure?

If anyone is interested in seeing this as a possibility, I would email them as well. The more they hear from possible consumers, the more likely they will produce something.

I was hoping with enough people inquiring, they would move it up in priority. The summer seems so far away! Someone pull some strings!

The SC Tuner was used on my built 3.3 Supercharged ATX SHO several years ago.

Great Product!

It plugs into the diagnostic port. You copy the factory tune onto teh programmer, flash the ECU with the new program. Unplug and you're good to go.

Or you can spend a little more and do the tunes yourself with their software, than download it to your flash device, than install as described above.

The diference with SCTs stuff is the fact its FACTORY software that is UNLOCKED and can be manipulated by the average joe. There is no manipulation of the ECU flash that has to be decoded and quite frankly, you wont be able to get ALL of the parameters this way when reversed engineered ( like Cobb has to do ). You also dont have to worry about a piggyback intercepting signals in hopes to change the values for you. This systems works as if Mazda actually designed the car to run with your mods on it from the factory.

When tuning the 2005 mustang gt, it too has the throttle plate closing problem. Ford did this to help the transmission from being worn quicker. With a click of a button, it goes bye-bye :) and you have the throttle plate closing the way you want it to, redline.

As SCT see's the MZR market increae, its just a matter of time before they design a real MAF sensor for the big turbo guys that wont peg until 800hp :)

I use an SCT XCalibrator 2 on my Mustang. You seriously cant beat it for ease of use and tuning options. You can use it to datalog if you have a laptop, pull DTC's and clear em, flash and modify user settings on the specific tunes with out a laptop. Like Haltech said, the pro-racer package allows you to tune it yourself if you have the proper supporting instruments to tune properly. The newer setups they have are even nicer. I'd definitely purchase something from them for the car again.

I'd be just as skeptical of this coming out as the AP from Cobb.

I was in contact with them working on the Mazda3 and always got release dates that kept getting pushed back all the time until the finally said they could not do it.

You got the typical response from them.

But I would agree that this would be the best option out there followed by the AP.

Time will tell.

Well ill tell you one thing about SCT. They wont waste R&D on a regular mazda3 because it isnt going to make any damn power NA because of the displacement of the engine. Its not a mustang... with tons of aftermarket support for NA bolts, superchargers, turbos, heads, etc.

The MS3 is a totally different animal for them...

Yet they make them for the Focus which has the same engine!
And there is a good amount of aftermarket support for the regular Mazda3 and would be even more if a tuning solution like SCT was present.
And it is not a limited production vehicle.
