If anybody remembers, I bought my car on June 23, 2008 and have been waiting almost 10 weeks for my license plates (I'm in California) and I called the DMV today and the woman tells me my plates shipped form some prison on July 23, 2008. Well, I don't have them...thusly meaning that our wonderful government...LOST MY F!@#%!ING PLATES!!! INCLUDING REGISTRATION!!! YAY GOVERNMENT!!! So this woman tells me I have to go to the DMV to get new plates and a new registration. That entails a new plate number too and the problem is I like my plate number, it kind of rolled off the tongue.

But I have 4 theories as to what actually happened to them:

4) Some inmate somewhere is making shivs out of them and stuffed the envelope with blanks

3) Somebody jacked my plates from the post office and sold them to somebody somewhere and they are riding around on my plates

2) They are actually lost in some part fo their journey here and sitting underneath some giant mail pile that nobody will ever touch

1) My asshole mailman looked at them, saw my name, and said "this is important, I'm going to screw this guy over once and for all muahahahah!!!" and threw them into the back of the truck in the corner where nobody will ever see them

Tomorrow I'm going to the post office to see if they can find them and if not then I'll have to go to the DMV (ugh) and get a new plate number. Which is not all that exciting because I want MY plate number. And wouldn't that void my title too since it has the original plate number and that plate number is being replaced by a new one???

I'm also going to talk to my mailman to see what he says. Since I bet he made sure they would never get to my house.

I'll update when I get more info.

The damn post office stole my plates and registration meaning that I had to go to the DMV to get new plates and the new number sucks, I went from 6EZ to 6EC which makes no sense since I bought it in June and that new plate number insinuates a late April to early May purchase.

This leads me to my next statement:
F#$^ THE POST OFFICE, F&*( THE STATE, AND F@#% THE GUY THAT STOLE MY PLATES!!!!!!!(bang)

But it's going to be a big surprise to him when he gets arrested for a federal offense...(glare)

Yeah, stay calm. Right! Wasted time without actual plates & probably hassle for expired tag. Wasted time getting another temp tag from dealer. Wasted day or 3 ******* with DMV. That'll be free too won't it? NO. Missed work time to handle during business hours = lost wages. More possible bulls*** from your plates being used for god knows what on some criminal's ride & you being hunted down for whatever they may have done. Lots of potential for unecessary bulls***, wasted time & money...nah, anyone in their right mind would be pissed off.

DMV (here at least) is open on the weekends. Yes it sucks, and yes I'd probably vent too, but it's hard for us to get worked up about your situation ;)

I know that this was more of a rant and/or vent but still I don't know where my plates got stolen or lost and if/what whoever found or stole them is using them for but I was at the police station and the guy said there was nothing he could do which doesn't surprise me since that's what I've been hearing from all these places lately. The annoying thing is he didn't even take the plate number to have anybody look out for them so when I get slammed with any tickets or whatnot I'm going to be really annoyed then and it could be potentially dangerous to anybody near me.

Yea, changing it up a bit is nice but when you go from a plate number that rolls off the tongue so easily to something that is just too random to be a good number it is a little bit of a let down on the government's part.

dude just ride without your plates. I still haven't put mine on and it's been over 1 year. I just kep the "registration" paper in the front dash window like a new car would, and keep the car clean, cops wouldn't know if it's new or not.

I got four tickets ($200 total) for no front plates (all while I was parked), so I finally screwed mine into the damn bumper. Depends on your municipality I guess.

lol @ jojo, trust me I keep a very clean car so I don't know how long it's going to be before I put my plates on the car. Although in California, the paper plates are only valid for the first 6 months...so maybe after 6 months have passed?

If I roll that way I'm going to take off my front plate holder cause the car is going to look so much better.

And have two holes in the front bumper? How would that look better?

Yea...I took off the holder last night after I washed it and now I'm not digging the fact that the state sucks and makes you put a front plate on the car. But lookie here, I'm now eating my words! Yay!(pow)
