Screw it, I'm getting an SRT4!

Okay, I was worried for a second there. Phew!

I will say this about the SRT-4; the price is right! That many ponies with that tiny price tag is an impressive feat. There are so many good and bad things that can be said but the Horsepower/$ ratio is impressive..

saying" its still just a neon" is plain dumb. a neon is in the same class of cars a protege is. if you don't like the styling, fine. MANY ppl don't like the proteges! i know ppl that hate the wrx just based... its all personal preference

a srt4 is, fast, it handles and it has some great seats; something mazda still ignores.

And; the Neon has crank rear windows.

That may, in itself, make the Neon most unique. I know of no other car that has power front windows, and crank rear windows. It doesn't get much cheaper than that, folks.

Does it have crank rear windows but power front windows?

Yes - that's what the dealer just told me,,,,,,and that is booooooollllsheeeeeet!

AGR 7 good s***!
listen after the last thread about the neons i went and did some investigating.
i went, sat , drove and hated it
sorry but all the power in the world cannot make me buy that car
there was even a raffle to GIVE one away! and i wouldnt do it
you want to talk about potential thats what the MSP has

any way its faster than WRX in my opinion after seeing it today but torque steer is HORENDOUS ( hope i spelled that right)

just not my cup of tea man

later

The Neon has a bajesus of potential considering its forged internals the MSP is only good in the long hual to 10 PSI if even that and then you are looking at an engine rebuild.

Newf-
If you get the SRT-4, can I come visit you for a test drive? Get it in black. That's the sex.
Seriously, whatever you choose, they are both great cars. Have you been surfing the SRT-4 forums? Any problems arisen yet? What is the canadian MSRP?
Wait, I just thought of something! If you leave our family, who will take up the clunking cause!

arg#7 damn man, put all your thoughts in one dang post...anyhow i beleive the srt4 isnt all that bad...if it has rear crank windows, i dont give a crap, i aint riding in the back...and the aerio...in my opinion, that thing looks great.

I know of no arg#7. I said nothing about the Aerio. That looks ok to me. It's all personal preference, anyway. The fact that there are rear crank windows in the Neon, is pretty sad, however. That's just plain cheap. There really is no good excuse that Dodge did that. No arguing that badboy power of the SRT-4, though. Doesn't interest me. I don't care that the SRT-4 has more hp; or the fact that it might be more easily modded. I didn't buy my new car so I can begin modifying it, trying to gain another 30 or so, horsepower.

I don't think anyone said the Aerio was ugly.
Infact everyone seems to like the thing.

oh man.. how did i miss this thread? the neon is actually cool.. but i had a roommate with a older neon.. and his only performance mods were carbon fiber altezza lights (on a white neon) and some blue neon lights inside.. now everytime i see one of those htings i think of that piece of crap.. oh well -=(
good luck with whatever you do..

oh an btw.. the aero or what ever is is called is a tissue box on wheels.. boo that car.

Yes 1st MP3...

The SRT4 has power front windows and crank rear ones...

That's not so common in the States but I saw that a lot in South America.

I saw the car personally at a local dealer, and the seats look great, but I can't say more than that since I didn't drive it.

The dashboard is cheap plastic, but that I was expecting it after driving US rental cars for 12 months last year.
The Shift knob at first looks like a nice satin-finish alluminum ball, but then I saw a scratch in it so I went really close and saw a line all around which is the line from the plastic injection process!!!, the shift knob is plastic YESSIRRR...! that's even cheaper than the crank rear windows, since for the windows at least you "could" say its a weight saving measure (STi-wise) but the plastic gearshift knob... C-MON !.

The engine looked neat, the turbo is between the block and the firewall, and I didn't see much isolation there so I was wondering about heat irradiation for a while...

The intercooler looked fine.

From the outside the car simply looks TALL in the back, like it's rised or something like it (:wtf: ) but I guess a lowering job and better wheels could make it look very nice indeed...

The car I saw had Michelin Pilots which are THE tires (acording to The Tire Rack user's poll) which is good.

In conclusion, my first impression is, it seems to be a good package for the price, and improving handling (which I hear is already good, although not excellent as the MSP's) is cheaper than improving power.
The car certainly doesn't look as nice as the MSP at least for my taste, but it's not the ugly thing you would think...
The only doubt in my mind is still quality...
I've been reading from owners of the 2nd generation, D/C has improved the car's quality/durability now, but only time will tell. maybe Newf will tell us overtime hopefully...!

I guess you just couldn't wait for hell to freeze since winter's already gone right ?:(

Later,
FEDE.:p

For the money, it is one hell of a car (power wise). for a few grand you could put an LSD and some good coil overs and have a great performing car. But my personal preference is that neon are hideously ugly. This girl i know had one and it was the biggest POS ever, i had to pick her up 3 times on the side of the road. Not to mention i hate dodge's, my last vehicle a 97' dakota had more problems then i could list including a blown tranny at 55000miles and this was bone stock. I would personally never buy a dodge ever again no matter how fast it was. My aunt had tons of problems with her dodge too. I'd say get a WRX especially since you live in snow territory. My friend just picked one up for 23 grand.

This is all personal preference.

Whats gonna happen with the clunk issue now? I hope someone up in Canada can pick up where you left off.
