Scratched windshield glass

New to group here and new to owning a Mazda5 - two months now for first-ever Mazda. I really like it - it's a nice compromise for my transition into a mom-mobile (just wasn't ready for one of the huge minivans). However, all is not rosy. Every time I drive in the sun, I swear I am seeing tiny scratches across the entire windshield. The windshield almost sparkles in the sun. I don't notice it if I'm not in the direct sunlight. After two days of rain here and really using the wipers for the first time, I am sure it is worse. The wipers look fine, new; but I'm no expert. My fear is I will be stuck with imperfect windshields on my brand-new car. Uggghhhh!!! Does the warranty cover such a thing? I am dreading going back to the dealer (not a great experience the first time) because I'm sure I know their answer. Any words of wisdom on how to address this?

go ato an auto paint store or auto body shop (call around) and see if they carry any paint polishes like meguiars, 3M etc...

Something like that combined with a machine polisher and a foam polishing pad might turn that glass into crystal clear.

and as you were wondering too, this MIGHT also be covered under warranty.

use your fingernail on the windshield. Can you actually feel the scratches? If you can, then fixing it will be tougher but if you cant, this should all polish out.

never heard of this before, but as jaxmazda5 says, a quick car glass polish is common and should do the trick.

As the car is new, just tell your dealer what the problem is and they might even have somebody who can do it. My 06 had a couple of big rashes under the bumper which happened during freight. I noted it on delivery and they fixed it on the 5K service. They have agreements with body shops around...

If you just bought it, take it back. Sounds like somebody tried to do a great job on the windshield with the wrong product.
