Same Engine as 6?

I just traded my 2011 6i for a 2012 5GT and I'm wondering why the power figures are listed at 157/163 compared to the 6 at 170/167? Anyone know if this is just from different intake/exhaust setup, ecu tuning, or different motor setup (cams, timing, etc)?

The engine codes seem to be the same so I'm gonna assume its just intake/exhaust and different tuning for more low rpm power.

That's exactly it, just like the 2.5 in the CX-7 was retuned for more low-end torque. What's interesting to me is that the 2.5 in the 3, 5, and 6 redlines at 6200 rpm but in the CX-7 it redlines at 6500 (according to Mazdausa.com).

I did notice in my 6 that the rpm limiter was set to around 6800, well into the red, but I figure if they wanted it set lower they would have.

If it is tuned for low rpm torque, I'd say they did a good job. Seems to pull much more strong than the numbers show.

My real interest with the shared engine would be to leverage tuning experience/fitments from the 6 community.
