Saab guy test driving Speed6 tomorrow

Has GM done anything positive for Saab? I think they're still in the red and this new 9-3 is just quirky enough to turn off the average shopper and too mainstream to attract the Saab lover. Even the 9-5 is letting me down and I haven't seen one 9-7x on the road yet. I realize SoFla isn't a big Saab market to begin with, but it's an ever smaller Subaru market and I've seen twice as many Legacy's on the road as I have new 9-5s...

Lord, I would've been all over the wagon as well...

As for GM and Saab, who knows if Saab would be around were it not for GM's cash infusion? They've dumped hella money into that company, and in the process, turned the company away from what Saab lovers loved about it, and not enough toward the common consumer.

I saw one 9-7 on the road, and it was turning into the dealership as I was driving in. :) I hadn't seen ANY other 9-2x's until I went up to NH over the holidays to visit the folks. I saw three on my way up. Every other car in NH/VT is a Subaru (or at least it seems like it is), and Saabs have always done well in New England, so the conjunction worked well for them I guess. Not to mention that a friend of mine went looking for one last fall and the dealer couldn't get them. Looks like perhaps they should build less 9-3s and more 9-2s :)

In any case, if they expect the "younger set" to come in and buy the 9-2s, then "upgrade" as they get older into the 9-3s, it's just not going to happen. People buy 9-2s because they love the performance and AWD and the Subaru reliability. They will stay away from the 9-3s for the same reason. It's sad really.

yeah that is pretty saad (sorry couldn't help it).

The 9-2x is a great car. The biggest difference between the WRX and Aero I noticed were the interior (agreed - much nicer in the Saab) and the gauges (tach in center on WRX; speedo in center on 9-2x).
