RX-8...The most beautiful car ever

Well don't hold back in the "how" category. This was what i wrote:

How does the S2000 beat it in "every category"? That I would like to see.

So how exactly does the S2000 beat the RX8 in EVERY category. Please post up some facts!!

I'd say the S2000 loses in comfort, # of passengers, and trunk space. Ever drive one? Ever drive one on the track?

in watching that video, i had to think to myself... what the heck is a miata doing on a track with an s2000, an rx-8, an infiniti g35, an acura rsx-R, and a friggin wrx sti? poor guy. i would have hated to have been the driver of the miata given the other cars that were on the track at the same time. and damn, that rx-8 has no top end speed whatsover.

No you didn't. End of story.

The S2000 is faster than the RX8 period. No if's and's or but's. The S2000 has a faster 0-60, faster 1/4 mile time, and even a faster top speed than the RX8. And I'll mentin that the S2000's 0-60 is as fast as 5.4 seconds. That's more than a half a second faster than the RX8, which is a lifetime in 0-60 standards.

Oh, the S2000 is 6.1 0-60, not 5.4

It also weighs 100 lbs less than my RX8.

It don't see that much of a difference, except that it's a 2 seater, and 6k more than the 8 ;)

RX-8 is a great car for the money. But in every Option or Best Motoring video I've seen, they've gotten beat by the S2000. And like what Tonka said, RX-8 has no top end.

Uhmm,....I own one.

There is a video of a 5 lap battle with the S2000, WRX, G35 Coupe, RX8, and the Miata. The S2000 owns them all. And actually, the only car the RX8 beat was the wimpy Miata. The RX8 wasn't even arund the last corner as the S2000 was crossing the finish line.

S2000: 0-60 in 5.4 to 5.6 seconds
RX8: 0-60 in 6 seconds flat

That's a pretty big difference. The S2000 was engineered using the same technology in chasis and suspension that is used in Formula 1 cars.

The S2000 is a pure drivers sports car. It's loud in the cabin, it's very tight and fits the driver like a glove, the transmition gets hot under the shifter, it's a harsh ride, the ass end slides out on you if you don't repect it. These are all the things I LOVE about it.

If I wanted a quiet cabin, softer ride, and room to haul people around, (all comprimises for less performance), I would have bought an RX8.

Nope. That is the 0-60 done by magazine testers. The real 0-60 is done with a 6000rpm clutch dump and it then scoots to 60mph in only 5.4. I should know.

Yeah, 6k clutch dump is not how cars are rated 0-60. You are not comparing the same numbers!

My point is that they are both great cars, one video shows different drivers in different cars, and driver skill is different among the group.

The specs of the two cars you are comparing are not that far off, so I still don't so how the S2000 a much better car?? If you mean marginally better on paper, then I see where you are coming from. But paper is not real world performance. In fact, the differences in real world would probably come down to driver skill anyway.

Trolling is fun ;)

Yeah, Flat, no you didn't. Ben was hiding in the bushes watching the whole thing. Not without his car magazine in one hand though, since we all know those 0-60 numbers NEVER vary from what the mags get.

2 of the guys in Honda sales have s2000's; a yellow one and a black one. We've taken our red demo RX-8 out to the strip and smoked both these guys. I know its faster.

Remind me not to buy any cars from your dealership. I've never heard of dealerships taking their demos out to street race. That is why this post sounds kinda like :bs: Hey, if it's true, my bad.

I'll get a video and pictures of both guys with loser shirts standing around there s2000's.

Thats why it is a demo. At the end of the demo, Mazda NA has the option to sell the car to an interested person at the dealership, or take it back and auction it. It would never go to sale to a normal customer.

I'll get pics of it today. Its a red one with a huge DEMO on the windshield, front and back.

Ben is right, the S2000 has a single purpose, RULE ALL ASS ON THE TRACK, PERIOD!
The RX-8 was ment to be a more comfortable and easier to daily drive car. In no way was the RX-8 really intended to hang with the S2000. Its a simple difference of design goals. That doesn't make either car inferior just different. So be it.

The S2000 is the single most committed attempt by a car company to make a true track car that I am aware of to date!

Yeah a s2000 with a 0-60 of 5.4 would mean its just as fast as a 3rd gen TT RX-7 or my TT 300zx, thats not happening. That statement is :bs:

Exactly,....nothing more, nothing less.

The S2000 isn't the best car ever made either. But, in performance, the S2000 is far beyond the RX8. In comfort, the RX8 is far beyond the S2000.
