RWD vs AWD

which one performs better when your draggin your car i know the awd adds more weight but is there a tremendouse diffrence thanx for the imput

in a drag race from a stop, AWD has an advantage because it can get more traction and pull away. from a roll, AWD becomes extra weight and drivetrain loss and doesn't help much when accelerating

the only time where AWD helps is at the launch, once you hook up, AWD is just extra weight and drivetrain loss

just set up the RWD car properly and call it a day.

thing is my cousin is trieng to decide between the 2001 bmw 325i or 325xi both are in his price rance and just wanted to see which one was gonna be faster off the line

I haven't heard great things about the BMW awd, I'd get the RWD unless he drives in rain and snow a lot.

Just curious... any reason you posted this in the Mazda3 forum?

Because you my peeps and you guys always have good info on everything

oh a little off topic do you guys know where i can buy body parts for a car online like front bumper grill ect........ thanx

oh and BTW i love my mZ3 YEllow sedan

RWD is better for drag. I think most AWD cars "act" like RWD when being drag raced anyway. But look at all the pro drag cars, its a lame example, but it works for them.

depends on your technique and application it's being used for...I seen some rear wheel drive vehicles throw themselves around turns that AWD and FWD couldn't do in autocross. If he plans on driving it in the winter I'd say AWD. Has he driven either vehicle yet?

The rear wheel drive is faster off the line. And if you dont live somwhere with much snow in winter, you have no need for AWD. Think of the gas mileage with AWD too, it's a b****.
