Rust-proofing (Krown) question

it appears i am already getting some bubbling on the rear hatch below the lift bars. Only 40k on the car so far.

You can get that done under warranty if it still applies (the bodywork warranty is usually longer depending on your location). See the attached TSB.

Well I had it undercoated at Krown. I doubt they had time to remove the stock soundproofing panels in the 30 minutes they had it. Seemed abit rushed to me and they left the car a mess. Not really impressed.

In the very windy but warm grip of Storm Ophelia, I finished the last stage of the rustproofing. Wheel arch liner off,

......then sprayed the wax on.

I also fitted the final mudflap which I will document in a “how to”.

Where I live in southwestern Ontario, our city has three Crown outlets but one person (who has visited all three) says they gravitate to one particular shop because they do a much better job. I suppose these are franchises and they're in business to make money anyway they can. Bills have to be paid as well as wages. The issue here is you won't know the quality of their work unless you inspect it for yourself. My 2012 Frontier was done at a Krown outlet and when inspecting the differential vent I noticed severe deficiencies in their application. I took it back and the manager agreed with me and said "The new guy must have done this one." Wishing only the frame and underside from the firewall sprayed right back to, and including the rear bumper and supports, about 60% was missed including the inner fender wells. A second application was applied ( probably by the "new guy" and I was given an opportunity to inspect it myself. I never went back to any of their shops and decided to do it myself from then on. Fogging undercoating isn't the same as spraying - spraying lasts longer albeit it drips more due to the heavier application. A trip down a dusty country road cures the excessive dripping and turns the coating into more of a paste that sticks even over existing rust on the underside. It seems to me that there are "procedures" for applications of rust proofing and then there are better profits for the buisness' and sad as it seems the best inspector of work performed is YOU!
