running 20psi on msp
I have a front mount, tune, upgraded midpipe, stiffer mounts, and a welded diff. I run 6 psi. You know why? Because I don't care if it doesn't do 0-60 in 5 seconds. I want to make sure it does 0-60 again when I need it to tomorrow.
You said his post is confusing but you put all the mods on your car to get no performance gains? That makes no sense to me. Rich is one of the only ones to push the motor with a stock bottom end. In my opinion more people should try to push the envelope to really see what the limit is exactly. Once my front mount goes on my next mod will be a standalone. I want to see what a nearly stock MSP can do with good tune and maybe meth.

people have pushed the envelope, and it blew up in their face. countless times. the issue is theres not enough experienced people doing it. even guys like thepope540, whos run megasquirt and is now installing a supercharged KLDE, spun a bearing at like 6 psi going up a hill. its asinine.

I'll roll with the thread jack.

how do you believe there are "no performance gains" just because I didn't up the boost? thats ridiculous. throttle response is better, spool up is faster, intake temps are lower (no heat soak either), and the car breathes better (read: makes more power). Even at stock boost removing restrictions in airflow DEFINITELY affords a gain.

The misconception that adding boost is the only way to add performance, is how we end up with posts like the one the OP put up.

how in the hell did this get to 13 pages of pure fail? The guy who wanted to weld his block back together and sell the car didn't get this much attention.

In your post you make it sound like you don't care if the car gets faster as long as it runs the next day. Adding boost isn't the only way to add power but running 10psi doesn't automatically mean its going to blow either.

In my post I said reliability is more important than being a 5 second 0-60 time. If I set a controller to 10 psi, likely theres going to be a spike on that, and MANY people have blown engines on boost spikes.. 6 psi is plenty fast for me. I never considered my MSP a wicked fast strait line car. I've never tried to take down a car that should rightfully beat me. Tossing it through corners is way more fun anyway. So in a way, you're absolutely right. I'd rather have better throttle response and longevity than more top end power. 10 psi doesn't mean its going to blow, but 6 psi doesn't mean its not either. LOL

Locked. Same point is kept being seen. Yes it BAD to do 20 psi, I think the OP gets it now. Enough of the negitive and usless repeatative posts.

And to add, any Mod that contributed, Shame on you.
