I toasted him so bad that by the time we got up to the next stop light he stopped like a car legnth behind me in the other lane. He couldn't bare to look over at me in the face of defeat.

Today was a good day for the car; new 3inch exhuast and a mustang for dinner.

It's too bad the same can't be said about the bank accnt. $31 until next Fri.!!!!

Well, I will be honest and say that I don't know what you guys are running in the 1/4 with your turbos, but I know for a fact that you should be running faster than 14.0 if you are going to be beating stock V8 stangs. I used to own a 2000 GT and I could run high 13's all day long with only mild mods. Low 13s with gears.

Rider, did you mean a 3000GT? You must've had a VR4 because my buddy has an SL and it's still in the 15's with exhaust, intake, and ACT clutch.

I am not saying you are lying. You very well could have beaten them for all I know. I just know what I had, it was a 2000 Mustang GT. I am just surprised that you guys say you could beat them is all. I hope to one day own a turbo and be able to beat them also if that is the case. A few of my friends still own them. All I know is that if a turbo protege pulled up next to me at a light, it had better be running at least a 14.5 to even have a chance. I only had mild mods (exhaust, intake, gears, short shifter) and I could run 13s all day long. If I gave it juice (which I didn't) I would have been in the 12s.

All I am saying is that the turbo adds much more to the protege than I was expecting or those people in the mustang GTs you raced didn't know how to drive. I am not trying to flame anyone, just hard to believe, that is all. I would love to see a video of it happening though. I would love to show that to my friends.

I've actually got a lot of stuff done though, not just the turbo. Once it gets to 8psi we will be in business. I've been driving stick forever and have been racing for a while now.

It is quite possible the GT's have les adequate drivers and it might even be that they were automatics??? I'm not sure.. All I knew is I won. hehe

I really need to tape some of them.

depends on the driver...they could very well be beating a mustang gt...but with a good driver a v8 will kill just about any 4 banger on the road...it may be a ford but it can go fast in a straight line.

I think most of the races we had were not from a dead stop. Most of mine were on the highway, already rolling. From a stop, I don't know if we could recover from the torque. Only one way to find out....

wait i partially retract my previous post...linux is probably the only one who might actually have a chance with a v8 hog, considering his jspec engine AND turbo. maybe...just maybe.

Remember folks, torque is what will win the race.

And weight plays a big part of the equation.

Mustangs weigh a good six to seven hundred pounds more than the Protege...The weight difference between the two makes for a healthy advantage in the Protege corner with a turbo.

I don't know what you problem is? every time i see you post it's just to pick a fight.

I believe them. And the reason why is BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT AT A FULL STOP. of course a V8 will pull on a 4 cyl turbo from start. they have the instant torque and HP which a 4 cyl doesn't.
now rolling down the highway doing 60 mph and seeing some V8 and downshifting that a diffrent story.

just to give you an example. my freind with the omni. from a dead stop he has problems b/c of the turbo lag and plus his car spins 1st,2nd, and part of 3rd gear. so a V8 would take him of the line and is a short race the V8 "might" have a chance of winning.

but with racing slicks on he does mid 12 seconds 1/4 miles.

not trying to cuase a fight. just clearing up some facts.

pick a fight? no. i just dont beleive what he says. just because he posts this "story" im supposed to beleive it? nah. its also important to look at who actually says the "go" in a race. if i say "go" i have the advantage as my reaction time will be faster rather than the reaction time of the car beside me since he can only guess when i will say go. if you dont like what i say dont reply to it. simple as that.
