yeah,
front is floating
rear is fixed

u need to turn the rear caliper for it to go in.
i just used a pair of needlenose pliers, turned it about 4 times.

MAIN THING!!!!

u have to align the caliper correctly.
(i didnt do it at first)
what i mean is:
the rear caliper has 2 slots.
these slots are for turning it, AND are there so the caliper clears the little bump on the brake pad that holds the metal cover.
(u'll know what i mean when u see it)

MAKE SURE U ALIGN IT CORRECTLY, otherwise u will get uneven pad wear.
Yep, I think that's my problem now, after I tried to push the piston back with no luck, I used pliers to turn the piston back in, and I think now that little nub on the pad is not where it's suppossed to be. I looked at the rotor and only about 3/5's is being worn. Guess I'll be redoing that before I drive it again. Fronts were easy though and the rotors look awesome! Its crazy how just the rotors make the whole car look better.

someone take a pic of this rear rotor thing... now I'm worried that I didn't do mine right. Damn you all to hell... .help me..... help you! hehe! But really, I have no idea what the hell your talking about with this nub here and this noob there. hehe. Mine went back on easy as greese on a wet monkey.

lol
are u getting any sound out of the rears?
like the pad dragging, or clicking noise?

no noise at all... at first I had that new brake sound but now I have nothing at all.... but what should I look for though, just in case.... no clicking either.

Hmm... My friend installed them for me, and he said they were some of the easiest he's ever installed. But don't be afraid of the noise. It's kind of a "phshh" as you slow down. But my friend says that's normal and will quieten down as the pads break in. I have less than 100 miles on them, so I'm not getting the full grip yet. (I think) But I'll update as they kick in.

weird.
i have a clicking sound coming from my rear brakes.
it's like it makes a sound every time the pad is hitting a slot.

anyone know anything about it?

I don't think it would be a slot. For some reason I'm thinking it has something to do with the emergency brake connection. Might be worth a look to see if everything is lined up.

hmm....please explain what you mean by that.
everything is lined up. i checked.

it's a faint clicking, only heard with windows down.
both sides.

hmm.....i found this on Disc Brakes Australia site:

We were surprised when some DBA Longlife Gold users reported a clicking noise. Wed never noticed it; further research shows it is the sound of the pads running across the slots. It only makes itself obvious in quiet times when the car is under heavy braking and is surrounded by lots of concrete. In these conditions, the otherwise unobtrusive noise bounces back to the driver.

kinda sux, cause i HATE every little noise in my car.
........i've also read that to remedy the problem one should apply copious ammounts of brake lube where the pad touches the caliper.

bleh, wendsday i'll be taking appart the rears.

I can't say that I've heard anything unusual yet. I've got about 500 miles on the new setup already, and no problems.

Well, I had a similar problem on another car, and the clicking was caused by emergency brake adjuster being cocked, and it was rubbing against something every time the rotor went around, causing a mild clicking. It's probably not your problem, but I thought maybe it would steer you in the right direction.

ok, so umm, what's the trick to getting the caliper bolts out? i've pulled the socket wrench as hard as **** and they haven't budged. they aren't reversed thread are they?

No trick, use the biggest ratchet you can find. I sat on the ground and kicked the thing to break them loose.

ok well i finally just stood on the ratchet and bounced a bit till it finally gave in. but now i'm to where you transfer the backing plates on the pads. they dont seem to fit exactly, are they really necessary? FYI i'm using the axxis pads

bump for fast answer, its midnight and i have work in the morning and i want to at least get the front rotors done. Thanks! :D
