Does anyone know off hand how to take it off? I haven't gotten to it yet, but I need to do it seeing as the little birdies around here find it to be a nice perch for their doodie booties...

it's not hard at all to remove the rack...there was a thread on this a while back...try doing a search...if you can't find anything come back

Unscrew the Phillips head screws that hold the covers on & you'll find 1 bolt @ each side of your rack. Just unscrew that & the whole thing will lift up. The rear has a sliding bolt under that track, Id remove that also before you install the covers. The factory plastic caps that are installed with the rack on just pop off.

and if for SOME reason that isn't clear, there are instructions in the owners manual located in your glove box. :{D

No mention of it in my owners manual either - In fact, there isn't one single picture or drawing of the car in my manual which shows the rack at all.

The info isn't in the manual... it should be on a separate sheet inside your portfolio or in the bag that the plastic filler pieces are in. (You know, the ones that fill in the gaps that the roof rack leaves behind.) Also, from one girl to another... get some help from a friend. It's hard to get leverage when lifting the rack off the car, and I wouldn't want you to drop the other end of the rack on your roof. You might scratch it! Other than that, it's pretty simple. Good luck!

Umm that thing can't weigh more then 5lbs @ best. I agree a second person could be helpful in avoiding scratches

well I am guessing that you guys must have bought your cars before me or something.....or there is a REVISION out to the manual.....for I looked in mine and there is a section dedicated to the roofrack removal. even has pictures.

You're right, it's not that heavey, but it's awkward in size and hard to get leverage. I should mention that I'm only 5'3" - little asian girl!

Well what I did was when I unbolted one side I put a towel under it and on the roof, while I unbolted the other side so if it moved it wouldn't scratch the roof. Then I just lifted it off. eazzzzzzzzzzy.

p.s. chop-chop on those 5'3" advantages please LOL.

Advantages of being small? Hmmm...

1. We can't do as much damage as big girls when wer'e mad at you. (yeah, right)
2. I pay less for my Nikes because I buy kids sizes
3. I can date both short men and tall men cause they'll always be bigger than me.
4. Easier to lift and toss around in bed. LOL

After #4 do you need any more reasons?

;)

yeah keep going on the list:D

my sig other now isn't quite tall enough to use me as an arm rest. He's 5'8", but the one before that always did! He was 5'11." Hmmm... more on the list?

how bout "smaller=tighter"? Don't know if that's a general fact, but that's what my friends say. LOL... didn't want to put this one on the list at all cause it was a bit much, but you asked for it!:D
