Road noise?

I am possibly going to pick up a ms3 tomorrow. I test drove it yesterday and really liked it. I decided to think about it over sunday. My wife said she thought it road a bit rough. I was too giddy to be real picky about the ride quality. I have a pretty long commute so road noise is a bit of an issue for me. I am going to drive it again before I make my final decision but what do you current owners think. Does the car get tiresome on longer trips? I am excited to get back in a Mazda. My BMW 540i is nikel and diming me!

Thanks! (drive)

yes, there is a little extra road noise... its like that to keep the weight a little lower...

its nothing the stereo cant drown out even at a "less than deafening" level.

ive done a few longer treks, and its never bothered me...

Well I decided against it. It's a bit to firm and noisy for my long commute. I guess the hunt continues. Oh well.... (sad2)

Mine made more road noise early on with new tires. Now that I have some miles on the car I either don't notice it, or they've quieted down. I commute about 45 minutes one way.

I just took my first trip (~3.5 hours each way) in mine and the road noise isn't bad at 80mph on the highway. It seems purposefully loud at 25-45mph type speeds around town, probably as that appeals to much of the target market.

The salesperson called and said they have a speed6 on the lot. I think I am going to check that out. I think what I am going to do is wait a few more months and try to pick up an '06 BMW 330i to replace my 540i. I was trying to go with a more economical car but I think I've spoiled myself too much.

I switch off from my 325i to my MS3 and know what you mean. I like the general rawness of the MS3 but for trips and the like, the 325i ownz.
