Rising Gas Prices??

With the continued rising gas prices, is there a way to have our turbo motors run properly on regular gas?

difference between 87 and 93 is 20 cents...you would only save $2.00 every 10 gallons of gas....I'm 95% sure you can't go to 87 on our cars and if you could the hassle to do it would not be worth it.

I just read something somewhere that most cars that need 93 can run on regular. it takes awhile for the carputer to adjust but it does. but I do remember when my my dad took my car out to dick around in he put 87 in and it sounded like s***. that was the only time its had anything under 93 in it. or if you have an ems you could tune for it.

x2 I dont get that either, its $2, thats nothing lol

yeah lower octane gas messes with your timing...Honestly Id rather spend the extra 1.50 at the pump to make it run right...

yeah my car had 87 in it after the dealer agreed to fill the car up after i bought it.. ran like crap compared to the test drive.. gas is already expensive as hell, whats another $.20 per gallon gonna hurt?

Hey guys, noticed ur all giving the same response here.. I put 87 octane in my msp, and yes.. definatly ran like s***, and had NOOO power at all.. i drove the car 350 kms on the highway, with 87 in it, and when passing cars on the single lane highway, it took everything that car had to get up to 145-150.

The fuel milage was terrible also.. Calculated it and I only got 30 mpg driving at 120 km/h compared to 34-36 at the same speed with the 93 octane. So mights well run the higher octane spend the money on the gas, and get a little bit better gas milage as well.

if you barely drive id say not worth it... but if you do drive alot those 2 bucks will begin to add up, so you have to weigh your options but if you do end up pumping 87 take boostr's advice and stay out of boost or you'll be looking for a new motor.

Go ahead, put some of that delicious 87 octane in there, you'll be back.

Bottom line, if you love your car and love yourself, do the favor and stick with 91 and up.
