Rip off CX-9 has it all

The CX-9 is BIGGER, much bigger ...

From what I heard through two separate dealers, the CX-9 is supposed to be bigger than a GMC Denali ... about the Yukon size. That's just rediculously enormous if you ask me. My CX-7 is plenty big enough.

I also have to say that I don't understand all the hype (and lamenting, gnashing of teeth and beating of breast) over the turn signal mirrors. What's the big deal?! And why are people so upset?! You knew the CX didn't come with them when you bought it, so I guess I don't see why it's suddenly a problem now. I guess I also don't see why those mirrors are considered such an upgrade. I remember a few years ago when they came out it was an interesting item, but the novelty has worn off. At least you don't have to stick your hand out the window to signal a turn!

Best thing said in this entire thread...

I see more threads complaining about what the CX-7 doesnt have and the gas mileage than I see those that are happy with their purchase....

as a side note the CX-9 is yukon-sized and is appealing to more of a family-oriented customer who needs a 3rd row seat but wants something "different". Its getting to the point now where people are tired of the escalades yukons and suburbans (some, not all). Thats where this vehicle is going to take in the market. IMHO it will have no effect on CX-7 sales, as they are 2 completely different vehicles with the exception of name and design cues...

Of course we're comlaining, happy is boring. We all luv our CX7's but if it were all happy posts this would be like a SUBARU or ACURA site with every one doing a circle jerk,
more gagets is allways better thats all, and for the price they could have trown it in or made it an upgradable option.
Luv you all

Uh, what planet are you living on?

If happy is boring - get a life man! (Meant in a fun way, really...)

Actually, "pissing & moaning" is quite an American phenomenom... only in the land of plenty, one of the richest nations on the planet, where even people living "below the poverty level" have cable, internet, cell phones, microwaves, color TV's, and $100 sneakers, can people find sooooo much to complain about!

I minored in Russian Studies & Soviet History back when I was a pup... The highest ever ranking Soviet defector was a man by the name of Chevchenko. In his book, Breaking with Moscow, he recounted the experience of a Russian emigre, walking into an American supermarket for the first time... that experience alone was enough to bring him to tears! He never in his wildest dreams, could imagine so much food could be in a single place... with NO LINES ! ...and NO LIMITS on how many loaves of bread you could buy!

Be happy for what you have, and put together your wishlists by all means...

Just keep in mind that whether your in your CX-7, a Bentley, or a Geo or Neon, NO ONE will be asking for "YOUR PAPERS PLEASE" in the good ole' USA!

God Bless America!

and Zoom-Zoom, as you ease on down the road.

the cx-9 looks killer. from a small add my wife saw she said she wants it!
my dealer just got 4 yesterday.
there 4 inches taller and 15 inches longer than a cx-7 3.5 liter v6 with 263 hp
the one on the floor was loaded for 31,000

what an interior on the 9. classy, sculpted, simple yet very effective. if i had a need for a third seat and or the extra space, i would have waited for this. Only thing that scares me is the power plant. Mazda needs to work on a high end V6 ASAP and move on from the turbo.

Again, you get (or don't get) what you pay for!!!! The CX-7 starts at $20,000 and the CX-9 starts at $29,000.........there has to be more equipment in the CX-9 for it to sell over the CX-7. The CX-7 is a SUV version of the Mazda 3.......and the CX-9 is the SUV version of the Mazda 6. Mazda's goal with the CX-7 was to make a different looking SUV (crossover) and pack it with a turbo 4 cylinder to compete with Acura's RDX, but cost about $7,000 less when fully loaded..........but you still get the "Sport" model's chincy interior and alot of options (AUX/ipod jack) that are not included. YOU GET (OR DON'T GET) WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!!

Considering the fact that I just received a $33,600 quote on an RDX w/ Tech package, your $7,000 gap is more like $2,500-$3,000. I haven't test driven the RDX yet, but I will be soon. $33,600 is just too tempting for all the features you get that I'm finding are not available on the CX-7. Granted, I can still get into a CX-7 at a great price too...I just won't know for sure 'till the RDX test drive.

live traffic reports like www.traffic.com? That's pretty sweet, and VERY useful to me in Southern Cal (five-0)

I'd imagine you could get a loaded CX-7 GT AWD w/ tech package for ~$29k if you shop around. The market has cooled off quite a bit, at least around here. Plus the CX-9 is out, potentially luring CX-7 customers away.

The RDX (much like CX-7) has caught some real bad rep regarding fuel economy, Acura is having lots of trouble moving them, esp. with the MDX out now. Rather surprising flop for Acura so far. All is not well on the RDX forums, either.

Yep, they're both suffering from the same problems. We'll see how the RDX suits my tastes. I already know I like the CX-7.

The CX-9 is the same as the new Ford Edge it's another shared platform like the escape/tribuet. It is being built by Mazda for now in Japan, and the Ford is being built in Canada. They share the drivetrain and frame.

Why do people spout out useless information when they have no idea what they are talking about?

The Edge and CX-9 are completely and totally different vehicles. The only similiarites are they both use a version of the new 3.5L V6 (all reviews indicate how much smoother and quieter the Mazda tuned version is) and they both use a frame that is loosely based on the Mazda 6. That's it!!!

The AWD system is completely different and the transmission is completely different as well. There is not a single shared body panel or interior peace. The CX-9 is a class up from the Edge and in a totally different league in terms of quality, performance, and trim. The CX-9 is a premium Japanese built crossover and the Edge is a typical Ford bulit SUV with most reviews describing it as a fancy looking Explorer.

Your post sounds like the uninformed ramblings of a wishful Honda salesman. Please do some proper research next time before trying to mislead people searching for info.

Well said!

I continue to see people talk about the continuously variable AWD, and when it "kicks in"! Many posts here are starting to sound like a bunch of OC sufferers instead of driving ENTHUSIASTS!

I also agree there are features missing from my CX7

Here's my list:
Lighted vanity mirrors (wifes comments Geos have them I could care less)
Autolocking doors once the vehicle is in motion
Power Passenger seat (to keep wifey happy(kissass) and equal in comfort)
Dual climate control
DVD for moonroof cars installation kits available
6 speed manual transmission. (I am a stick man. My 5.7liter truck had a 5 speed stick back in 1991)
More hp. (Power! I want Power!... I also don't want the wife to dust me in her Turbo Baja)

I do not regret my decision to buy the CX7.
The 7 seats could be nice at times but for $10,000 more it would mean I could have had the CX9 but would have been unable to buy my wife her Subaru Baja Turbo.

The other toys are just that. If you need mirror blinkers to remind you to turn them off or to know which way you indicated, maybe you should not be driving any longer. Blue tooth? (puke) I have driven for over 30 years without it and why do I need it now to go from point a to b?

I Pod? I have factory I Pod in mine to the Bose. The tech system just seemed like more trouble than it was worth to me. KISS Keep it simple stupid!

I like the Turbo. Everyone has a stupid V6 in their freaking mini vans these days around here. I like being different.

I am not upset or sad. Yes the few items I listed would have been nice to have and I would have optioned for them if available.

Still happy with the CX7

Ipod....no big deal to me...maybe because I am 41? 6 cd is good for me. I have an MP3 player and never use that. Mirrors on visors...nice but not that important, turn signal lights on the side mirrors...nice looking not a necessity, dual climate control....nice but mostly by myself in car...never needed it before.....3rd row seat....had it in my hubby's Mountaineer...used it twice in 3years..I have one child. I guess this is why they have two different models. It has more features and passenger seating. Me....I would love the Sky roof....that almost had me on the Edge but I love Mazda's handling and looks better and this was more important than a sky roof. Wonder what it would be like to add one on???? Also probably a $1000-2000 option....I will wait to get one next time around.....hope Mazda will offer it in the next 4 1/2 years. ;]
CX9 is a nice vehicle....have to drive it for fun when I take the 7 in next
!Zoom, Zoom!!

whgile i spent time at the dealer, the CX-9, WOW. i really dont kno what else to say about it. It looks so elegant, and expensive, and just honestly leaving you go wow, what IS that?

rediculous job by mazda

Well the dealers also noted for a little while, there were pics and info on the coming of a cx-7 mazdaspeed version. Wonder if it has anyhtig to do with the lowered yellow one with rims on it in mazda usa front door (display area at the warranty facility in irvine). But the delaer said it was up on the website for a bit. So if it does happen wonder what they will do diffretn form a normal cx-7

lets say a mazdaspeed version comes out - is it possible to take your regular one and make it a mazdaspeed, or is there juts too much stuff involved

I would hope some parts would be available.

If it had a manual transmission (which I would love) it just may be too extensive to retrofit it to a normal CX7

Hood scoop, bigger intercooler, HP engine control module or program allowing more boost etc., bigger turbo, better intake, better exhaust

It would be nice

yes but youve said before that you are music fanatics, so you dont count :p

and people need to stop comparing the CX-7 and CX-9... the only thing they share in common is the AWD system and the Mazda name... The CX9 was never meant to be the "stretched" version on the CX7 and it was designed for a different buyer entirely.
