My friend with the mazda 3 will probably get these,
http://www.rim1.com/Items/17%20DP6%20CHROME%20WHEEL

His car is black that would look good though, but question about what size tire he should get, he is planning on lowereing with eibach kit that loweres 1.2" front and back, he wants either 215/50/17, 215/55/17, or 205/50/17, If he lowers would he stil be able to fit the first 2 sizes without rubbing?

yes those should fit. i like Motegi rims but im not sure about those, but to each their own.
i think he should go with 18s though, that would be sweet!
you could get 225/45/18... teh sex

215/55 will be WAY too tall. If anything, the second option would be a 215/45. Neither of the 215 sizes are a perfect fit, though. Since he's going with a 7" wheel, he should probably go 225/45 or just stick with the stock size.

he wont get any tire smaller than a 50 series, 18's would look sweet, but then the rims are weaker and heavier. so 215/50/17 is good then?

Why the hell not? If he's worried about being too "low profile", a 205/50-17 and a 225/45-17 are exactly the same height.

I won't say 215/50-17 is good but it's better than some other choices. It's about a 1/2" taller than stock, so fender clearance may be an issue and speedometer accuracy will definitely be off (he will be moving faster than the speedo says).

he just dosnt want less than 50 cuz he wants some meat on the tires, he thinks its ugly when there is all rim and bearly any tired, which I kinda think is true, but I cant fit much bigger on my protege cuz I have 17's and its lowered lol .

I agree. But like I said, a 205/50-17 and a 225/45-17 are exactly the same height with the same sidewall.

Looking at them from the side, there would absolutely no visible difference!

The only difference is tread width.

hmmm, im just glad to see someone else buying from rim1.com cuz thats where i am looking and i have been kinda worried bout their credibility, but their pricing is overall amazing

Alright He will get 205/50/17
