It's not just a girl thing, I still don't fully get all of the numbers. lol
Depends on the width of the wheels. Basically you want the tire to have the same circumference as the OEM tire so that your speedo is not thrown off (which equates to worse gas mileage).
I am running 17 x 7 MSP Racing Harts. The tire size with a circumference closest to stock is 215/40/17.
If the wheels you are getting are 17x7, then yes. What size wheels are you getting/do you have?
Yeah, wheel size will def. help us help you. In addition to the width of the wheels, be sure to find out the offset as that can affect what size tire you may run.
I know of a few members who are running the MSP wheels with a 215/45/17 (may rub under full load) but they have a +55 offset.
I have MSP wheels too. The 45 series tires will throw your speedo off by almost 3 mph (giving you worse gas mileage), while the 40 series (which I have) will only be 0.2 mph off.
Noted, I was just throwing that size out there as some people like to have a little extra sidewall which might be her case since she is downsizing from a 215/35/18.
Of course width and offset will play a factor into running that size. More than likely she will need to run the 215/40 or 205/40.

If by chance the wheel is a 7.5" width you'll need closer to a 48-50mm offset

Hmmm
My 18's are running with 225/40/18. Too big? The 17's I am getting are from the Mazda3 5 prong ones. My car is not lowered or anything. Can I run 45's on the 17's? Or just 205 0r 215/40?(braindead

Yeah 40 series are a bit too big for 18's.
For those mazda3 wheels, I would go with the 215/40's for the widest tire and closest circumference to stock P5 tires.
Yes, they are the 5 spoke 17's. So if they are 17X6.5, the 215/40's will work?
