Ridiculous Rules

I recently posted a for sale thread for my car. I go to check it out the next day and it gets closed. Why? Because I didn't have a paper saying the date and my screen name on it for each picture.... stupid rule..... And all this to prove that what is shown in the pictures is in my possession? WTF? I know people on this forum that see my car in person everyday. That have seen everything I have for sale in my thread. Why would I need a paper to prove that? Never had I done that one any other forum....

The pics I posted were taken a while ago. My initial intention of taking those pictures had nothing to do with selling the car. So in order to have pictures in my thread, I need to take all new ones. This means re-mounting the summer rims and taking new pictures from all angles... a general waste of my time.

The community on this forum is great. Good people, great discussion and interesting threads. But the administration is absurd. Some of the rules are pointless and just plain useless.

^i dont think you need to put the wheels back on the car. the paper just shows that the car is in your possesion... and to be fair, nate is just being fair. i was like wtf when i saw it closed, but i think it was the fair thing to do.

Dude, you dont need the sign in every picture ond you dont need to retake every pic you posted. We need at least 1 or 2 pics w/ a legible sign w/ the info requested for the car and another for the wheels if they arent on the car.

Im sorry you feel this is ridiculous but it seems most other members have no quams about following it.

Its simple, you want to list it here, you follow the rules.

if you use this sight to sell something you should atleast be a member, that paper just shows your a member and who is trying to sell something on the forums. At least they don't charge to sell stuff...

lol, what killer is trying to say is, these rules are here to protect potential buyers. the rules have been there for a while and they seem to be working. if you dont like it, dont buy/sell on the forums.

I've been a member here for a while. I have ~600 posts with a lot of pics of my car. I'm not some sort of scammer....

What rattles my cage is that they just close the thread without warning me because I don't have "proof". I just find that unjust. Like I said before, the forum is good and all, but this rule among others just make it not worth your while at times.

i personally agree with the rule. we have a much lower rate of scammers because of it.

i lurk places like honda tech, and theres dozens of scammer threads, all because all you need is a certain amount of posts to post in the FS. theres some much BS on the site anyway, its easy to BS the amount, and "sell" whatever you have.

i think the rule should still apply even if your an active member.

And for the record, I always wondered why people took pictures with those papers in them. I wasn't aware it was for proof. This is why I would have liked to have been warned before having my thread closed...

By posting a F/S thread you are agreeing that you've read and understood the F/S rules that are posted at the top of any section in the F/S area.

Its not our fault you didnt, and we're not going to hold your hand and warn you and wait for you to get pics. Theres too much on here to keep track of who said they'll have pics up by when. The thread gets closed, you get the pic and PM the mod and the thread is re-opened.

It doesnt get more simple then that. I dont see how a warning its being closed should be necessary, its pretty much obvious how it works.
