I'm confused too. What are you looking for, a diagram of the exhaust system?

The stock exhaust setup is in this order, going from the engine back:

1. Turbocharger exhaust outlet
2. Factory catted downpipe
3. Factory second cat (what would become your test pipe section)
4. First reso.
5. Second reso.
6. Muffler
7. Exhaust tip.

I have no idea what ebay test pipe you may be looking at, who makes it, what the materials are, how well made it may be, etc. I'd suggest you go with one made by a reputable company that also makes a good downpipe in the event you want to upgrade to a dp/rp combo, so that it will fit properly.

I guess you know that reso delete will do absolutely nothing to improve your power. The stock CBE flows better that the maximum output of the K04 turbo. Reso delete will only change sound, but if that's what you want, please note that you might want to put the test pipe in first (10 minute job) and see what change in sound and volume that makes, as deleting that second cat will change the tone and volume. And if you ever go to a bigger downpipe, especially a catless one, the combo of dp/rp is really loud through the stock CBE. I had to add a reso in the test/race pipe section to tame that.

okay great picture this makes alot more sense to me now i suppose i will try the test pipe first i want a more agrressive sound but i dont want to spend money on a new CBE based on the youtube videos del the resonators makes it sound quite nice. umm any recommendations on testpipe brands ? i figured it wouldnt matter because its a simple pipe ? but again this is why i ask.

I don't think you can go wrong with any brand of test pipe. Like you said, it is a chunk of pipe. Go for the cheap one!

Just a heads up, I deleted this picture before I get in trouble. It can be found on the SU website under the exhaust parts list.

Some test pipes do not fit well and leak. Try using the search function for various opinions. Not trying to be a smart*ss, but there are lots of threads and lots of opinions on this. Check them out and make an informed choice rather than just listening to whoever happens to answer this thread next, me or anyone else.

Knowlege is power. Knowledge reduces mistakes. Knowledge saves hard earned bucks. Knowledge requires a bit of digging and sifting though sometimes conflicting opinions.

All I can say is that I did the dp and rp (test pipe) together. The TurboXS test pipe mated perfectly to the stock CBE and to the TurboXS downpipe (which it should, since they came from the same company).

It is just a piece of straight pipe. But fit, material, and quality of construction do matter and vary considerably.

I never had to worry about a test pipe. I went straight from stock exhaust to CP-E turbo back so I don't have much experience with them. The CP-E downpipe replaces both the down pipe and the test pipe sections.

They are easy to take out though!
