I've been toying with the idea of downgrading to a smaller car, so I set my sights on the Saturn Astra XR. While new prices are really good right now, trade-in values are in the toilet.

I really like the Saturn. Tight and peppy, lots of interesting features and a good-looking little 3-door IMO. But it looks like I'll be keeping Black Cherry a while longer.

When they opened their desk drawers and pulled out a little yellow book with "NADA" printed on the front in big black letters.
KBB isn't the end-all for dealership pricing. They never used it in WY, where I did most of my car trading.
I would definitely get a 3 hatch before I would ever get a Saturn. You realize Saturn is not going to be around much longer dont you?
mazdas typically, from what i have witnessed over time, do not hold their resale too well. why this is, can't really say. toyotas and hondas tend to really retain value by comparison as japanese brands go.
maybe even a 2012 Mazdaspeed 6 Twin Turbo.![]()
drive it into the ground for at least 3 more years, and when you have to replace the turbo and dont want to, trade it in. you will be comprimising repair costs in the $5000 at that point for a 9k+ large downpayment on a new car in 2011, might be some way better choices than a saturn dude. maybe even a 2012 Mazdaspeed 6 Twin Turbo.![]()
