Hello All,

I am looking @ replacing my POS5, 4 Trannies later, I have had enough. Fortunatly I may be getting a buy back from Mazda (thanks to arbitration here in Canada).

So these are the cars I am considering.

Impreza RS
Civic Si (4 door)
Lancer Ralliart

Which would you go for?

Any other opinions?

To replace your POS5, i think you should look into the Imprezza RSUX or the Civic s***. The lancer rallyass sucks imho.

Scion tC

I like the Scion tc. Im not sure this car is available to you in the great white north, but if it is, I dont think it can be beaten for the price/performance ratio. PLus it has a world of mods already.

Just IMHO,

4 trannies? do u know how to shift?

The lock out is broken from 5th to reverse, even after replacing the tranny, you can still shift from 5th to reverse, and the lockout does nothing.

I have also been driving standard for 13 years... (spank)

I just happened to get a lemon.

Mazda claimed it was abuse, the arbitration found in favour of me, and when they replaced the tranny, not even leaving the dealershit, it was still not working properly, Mazda again claimed abuse.

Scion isn't available in Canada..

the car is only as good ro as sucky as the driver. hard to believe that you went through 4 trannies and that it is not your fault. (doh)

in any case, if i was looking for a car to buy i would either go with the mustang gt or mini cooper s. everybody have their own preferences and pockets. go with what you want, not what other people would get (no)

Anyone who sits in my car, and trys to shift from 5th to reverse, does it with ease, and the lockout is not broken, Mazda took the one out from the previous tranny, and it was in perfect condition.

I am just looking @ peoples opinions, and possible experiences.

mini cooper, too small.
Mustang, I want nothing to do with ford.

How much money are you looking to spend (in american currency please, we are dumb down here :) ? If I had 26 grand, I would be standing at the Nissan dealership today wanting a black 350z. Of course, it hardly ever snows here, so again this might not be the best choice for you.

what good are people's experiences when thousands of people on here are happy with their pros and have no problems and only a few do have probs. what guarantee is there that your new car, which everyone who owns one might say is a great car, will not be a "lemon"?

Why do you try to go from 5th. to reverse? What kind of lock out are you expecting, a paddlock?

But in all honesty he's just looking for opinions guys, maybe his thread title was a little harsh and....well....stupid to put in this forum but I know there's been plenty of threads very similar to this one and people were friendly and nice with their responses even going as far as to post specs on cars to back up their choice. He doesn't want his P5 anymore and is going to something new.....whether he messed up his own car or not is beside the point. What are you looking for? AWD? A project car or keeping it stock? Price range? daily driver or weekend funmobile? Kids driving in it too or just adults?

I would pick the Lancer Ralliart. I love that car. Its like baby Evo. The car drives flawlessly IMO. If it would have came out 2mons earlier I wouldve bought one instead of my P5.

no s***, you moron. ive only been driving a standard for not quite even 8 years, and ive NEVER even come close to shifting into reverse. EVER. who in their right ******* mind TRIES that s***?

hell i bought my RX7 Turbo II and didnt even know how to drive it. so you know i beat the s*** out of that car learning, and i never did that s***.

that thing's junk. its like a HUGE sign saying "i cant afford a decent car, so i bought the car that mitsu made to be affordable to 16 year olds"

thats just my opin

(uhm) not sure i understand going from 5th to rev?

actually, excellant night! i just get a little defensive with his POS5 when its obviously HIS fault.

anyhow, i saw the movie hitch, ate at a Iranian restaurant and did a little sightseeing in San Jose. Also, I got switched over to cingular so i have much better recpetion now with my new kick ass MPx220 phone, and today im going to go to carmel and do some sightseeing there.

Ahhh Carmel (2thumbs) boy do I miss Cali...

Uhm, it's hard to say from the info you have given... but of the three I would check out the Sooby. You can upgrade that to a WRX for pretty decent prices if you look around.

Well, blaming me wont help...

I have had 2 independent mechanics tell me there is something wrong with the car..

It only happens to be on occasion that it would slip into reverse, from 5th.

This is not my first standard car, and I have driven over 20 different standard cars, and never had anything like this. I have a quicktime of this, but I just need to find a place to post the link to it, showing what happens.

Mazda had a service engineer also come and look at it, and he reproduced the problem himself too..
