Replacing Bose 2002 Miata LS radio with a Protege Radio

Hello my Miata people.

So ive been a long time lover of the Miata and I was finally able to get my hands on one.

I got
2002 Miata LS
6spd
Bose
emerald mica

I love it flat out love it.

my only problem is that Im gong from a 2002 Protege 5 which I hooked up a grom audio Ipod adapter and was listening to nothing but my ipod.

I miss the ipod. now I still need to check the demensions but I know hte grom willnt work with the bose but if I swapped the radios would they hook up?

basiclly is the harness plug the same? and would it cause any problems?

I dont mind losing the top down feature on the radio and I do plan on putting it back in when auxmod comes out with one that should charge it.

if it will work with the bose amps your all set, I know the pain in the arse part about the double din 99 bose system is those darn amps that they use to output the sound. If you dont have a way to work with those, good chance no sound will come out.

little update.

I did use the grom audio on the Bose Miata radio.

No issues whats so ever.

a non-bose radio (the protege one) cannot be interchanged with a bose radio (the miata one) even though the wiring is the same at the plugs

you can plug in whatever ipod kit you want to any 01+ miata/protege radio and it will work... I have a mazda ipod kit unofficially working in my protege
