Removing middle console of 2003 Miata

Does anyone know how to remove the middle console? I'm having a particular problem removing the screw that I am told lies below the power window switches. I don't want to reck the plastic that is on top of it. Any secrets on how to get it off without ruining the plastic?

yes, i used a small plastic putty knife, worked great...no scratches!
