Remove Exhaust ?!

Hey guys ...

As some of you know, my P5 was recently totalled ... Thankfully, I only had a Racing Beat catback exhaust installed at the time (everything else is sitting in the garage).

I've run into a problem: The location where it's being held won't allow me to remove the exhaust on their premises. So, I have to rent a tow truck to bring it to my place, remove the exhaust, place the stock back on (required by insurance co.), then have it towed back.

It costs about $60 each way for the tow truck, about $120 round trip. Considering that and the labor involved ... do you guys think it's worth trying to remove ?

if u want the catback exhaust that bad do it and if u have no problem with money, too bad u didnt know anyone in the tow bussiness to due u a favor, but for me the exhaust that was on my car when it got totaled i just left it there!!!

Don't you know anyone that lives in that area? Just bring a friend and push the car somewhere where you can quickly do the changeout.

Find an oil change place or garage nearby and offer the manager $50 to let you use a lift for an hour.. I dunno. Seems like you could work it out better than that.

And the exhaust didn't get damaged? It would suck to go to all that trouble and then find out that you have to cut off the RB because it got bent, and then you can't fit the stock one back on.

though I'll probably have nightmares from the picture, do you have an images of the wreck?

Let the exhaust go... It's not worth it. Someone will come along with a used one for sale and you can get it...

I'll get pictures this weekend ... no time this week. :(

I took a quick look under the car and the exhaust seems to be in good shape, but yeah it would royally suck to go through all the trouble of removing it before finding out it's too bent out of shape to use. Damn careless drivers!! (argh)

My $0.02:

Leave it, and just report it to your ins. company. Hope you still have the receipt.

hmm... - I picked up my RB exhaust from Kooldino for $150. I might end up replacing it with something else after the turbo is installed. Not sure yet. If you still need it next month, send me a PM, I'll know what's going on with the exhaust by then.

For now the plans are to keep the RB exhaust. I am trying to keep the car looking and sounding stock.

I tried that option ... as an aftermarket part, the insurance co. won't consider it as part of the claim. They will only cover OEM. :( It's a damn good thing I decided to wait a lil while to order HID's ... that would have bbe $400 down the shitter.
