Regretful MSP owner...

Hey, everybody remember how the cars were delayed a few months?? Hm....

who's being delusional here? I don't own an msp, I drove it, it IS the best handling car that everyone can afford out there

you're denying yourself of the facts for
a) not reading magazine articles that test by test shows that the MSP is superior to even some expensive sports cars
b) you did not search the forum of the issues you're having... the clunk... the hessitation
c) not researching, see A and B

how can you say your car is full of problems when mazda attempted to make fixes that you haven't even tried?

I fully expected to get flamed for dissing a car in it's own forum. Especially when half of the owners here are dillusional in thinking they have the best car in the world, or best handling, or whatever. From the "forest" aspect, it's a pretty cool car, but from the "trees" aspect, it's just plain dissappointing...and I know I'm not the only one that feels this way. Anyway, thanks for the comments, good and bad.

Ya know maybe I was a little harsh, in the end it sounds like you want a car for reliabilty and general transportaion instead of performance and styling. I draw this conclusion based on your complaints compared to what you enjoyed about the car. The Mazdaspeed is not the car for you and thats that.

I don't know... maybe be being "too" careful re: oil change @1000k. Want to just get it done, and have them checkout the car and fixes and stuff.

For anyone reading this thread, I have 2 things to offer that may help you avoid a similar situation.

1. The MSP Pros & Cons thread in my sig. If you read that & you still want the car, then you won't be disappointed when you get it.

2. If anyone is looking to buy a new car & they don't know what they want, I am really good at helping you decide what car is right for you since I was looking for like 4 years before I got my MSP. That way you won't get the MSP & realize it's not right for you.

If the car keeps giving you so many problems and the dealer can't seem to fix it then deal w/ Mazda NA. Maybe they'll buy it back as a lemon.

Exactly. That was the whole reason I bought the car. I have always seriously modified every car I've owned, so I wanted a car that had good styling and was something I didn't have to do any mods for me to like it. I haul the kiddies around in it too, so it has to be reliable. I didn't buy it so I could just turn up the boost so it might run better. I have enough projects around the house. I didn't want this to turn into another one.

And I will agree that my car hasn't had any MAJOR problems, just more along the lines of nuisances. The hesitation is the worst, but all the little ones add up after a while. I still only have about 7,000 miles on it. And although a 5yr/50k mile warranty is great, having to go do the dealer repeatedly (which is 45min away from me) only to hear them say "we couldn't get it to do it" is something I don't have time for.

I know this thread could just go on and on. I'm not here to offend fellow MSP owners that love their cars, just to share/vent about my problems with it. I can tell some of your are good guys with alot of knowledge of our cars.

what are you asking for the car man....I'll buy any sub 25K mile MSP for $11K cash. As long as it's not wrecked or blown. I'd love to have another play car. I know it's a low offer, but it's an offer. It's what the car is worth to me. NO flames about it being too low. Thats the point of an offer.

I repeat:

I know it's a low offer, but it's an offer. It's what the car is worth to me. NO flames about it being too low. Thats the point of an offer.

No blown motor here. :D

I'm pretty sure it was Ryan they are talking about. Blew the motor after cranking the boost up to 16psi after some meet in Atlanta?

As far as the squeaking/crunching noise in the front end going over bumps, Urethane swaybar bushings, plain and simple. A little Lithium grease in-between the bushing and swaybar will help for awhile.

Ok well for me the MSP is perfect for my driving needs, and I got it to autocross more than running the 1/4. Having modified cars before hand, you expect a lowered/stiffer suspension to make noises and take bumps harsher. You will have a louder engine instead of your silent family car. Your tires will wear out quicker since they are performance tires, not no 205/65/16 series tires. You are gonna have a turbo that will yell at high rpms. I mean it can go on and on but damn. I knew what I wanted and looked at every aftermarket mod on the MSP stock and went for it. Ive swapped a couple of FS complete motors and heads on the Probe. So if something blows im not complaining, im fixing it, UNLESS its something where im on stock PSI and it goes. And im 26, no kids, rent, and other bills. I know that may make a difference but im all about taking a car apart if I have too. Anybody can buy a DX, LX, or ES protege and fit the common driving lifestyle, but when you get people on here fixing up or boosting their ES or what not, they deserve to of had a MSP instead. Did anyone out there buy it without doing their research???

My friend bought a 03 MSP B.M. about 2 months ago he has like 3500 miles on it and he is talking just like FATDADDY is, he wants to get rid of it because of the problems...i dont know what to tell him...i dont think he researched it enough to know what he was getting into...but take this opinion, I drive a Evo, But i absolutely LOVE his car, it is awesome for the money, if i would have known about it about 6 months ago i might be on here with a different car and about 10 grand to spare on a crapload of parts and go fast goodies. The only thing that would have made me not consider this car is the people who just constantly put other people down for having different opinions. The 'Flaming' really needs to die down, people are scared to ask questions, and isnt that the point of the forums? every thread i read there is at least like 3-4 people ranting about how other people are stupid for doing something different from what they consider well done. sorry im off subject(prolly get 'flamed' for that, and who came up with that word? its kinda...eh) Back to what i was saying, i want my friend to keep his damn car and dump some cash into it so we can play nice together on the tracks and on the road. ohh and fatdaddy, keep the car ditch the kids man...:) just kidding do what you will, but know you are letting a great limited production car slip through your fingers...

Well my clunk was driving me mad and I was wondering why it had gotten so bad when while loading 3 pc's, all accessories and 3 18'' Flat Panels into my trunk for a LAN session I found a 3 ft long pair of pruning shears that I had forgotten about. I soon realized that the advent of the terrible clunking and the time I had put those shears in there coincided :) DOh!
So my clunk is back to a minor annoyance.
