I've never had any problems at my dealership, but yesterday I went in to meet up with some friends, and while I was out there I asked if I could go ahead and get the reflash, to see if I got any of my missing power back. They told me that they can't do that unless I have an actual problem with my car? They were actually real assholes about it. Is there anything I can do about that?

They will not let you leave the dealership with anything on an official form rejecting work when the complaint is that the car is dangerous.
The real question is, how is the car running? Why do you think the reflash will help? I qualified for the pump and reflash and got both. I haven't had the kind of unpredictable throttle response that I used to get since the pump was replaced.

You have got to learn how to work the system. Like posted above they need a issue present in order to perform warranty work. This also helps them justify (CYA) the work should they ever get an audit from the factory and it does happens from time to time.

Just took mine in for 5k service and mentioned an "intermittent and unpredictable loss of power" and the service report came back with "Verified concern. Reflashed PCM with update." So either they actually did it or are just trying to shut me up. We'll see if there are any noticeable/measurable changes in performance or mileage.

well I use to be a honda tech and working we the dealership we did not care if the car does or not what the costumer complain we just did it,any way warranty pay and it's all about the what the tech write on the history.and if we had a bulletin we just say line it up.

They get paid for it, but they don't make as much as they do with their regular billed work. For this reason, a busy shop will try to discourage warranty work. One with more open slots is happy to fill them and will grab any warranty work that presents itself.
The catch, of course, is that if they reject too much or rubber stamp everything that comes in, corporate headquarters will want to know why, so it is a balancing act.
I am certainly not sure on our car. but a reflash could do a lot of things including throttle response. By asking the throttle plate to open or close more while more or less fuel is delivered, while adjusting ignition on a different curve etc. What this one does I do not know but my flash was to adjust for the new fuel pumps mechanical ability in general.
same boat here, I know nothing of these reflashes. Some one said unplugging the battery and let it sit for 15-30 minutes? Am I right? I do not see how that does anything, unless I am completely clueless, but some people insist on such things after each mod.
I dont know where the idea came from but it sounds weird to me. I just don't like loosing my stereo adjustments, so Id prefer not to unplug my battery for something that sounds ridiculous.
Some elaborate on what this reflash is, how someone ever thought of this, and if its necessary or actually does anything when adding simple mods like an intake or a bpv?

basically all things aside the way it works is they will hook your car up to their computer diagnostic system and if it says you need any software updates for anything on your car they will do it otherwise they wont touch anything and just keep doing whatever they gotta do. most dealers wont just hook your car up to see if you need it so as said before get them to document that there's something happening that makes you feel unsafe and they''ll help you out. printing out the TSB and showing them that your vin # falls into that category is just proof that you are having problems/power loss but also you must remember that they know about the forums and might think you saw the TSB so you printed it out thinking you can get it done regardless of whether your having the problem or not.

every dealer is different and many are not very friendly when it comes to stuff like this so be patient and persistent and it will pay off.
There are different issues, early 07 builds had a couple that were associated to a recall/repair. Like the rear clunks you might have read about elsewhere. There is a turbo failure problem related to shaft seals, there was an emissions flash whatever that means. And a fuel response problem. If your car does not seem to run correctly have mazda guys check it out. These are to repair issues that came up that affected cars emissions issues mostly though
