Recommended 30,000 mile perventative maintanence

So the Mazda Dealership recommends to get a 30,000 and 60,000 miles preventative maintance done to my car. The work includes a laundry list of things they do or check on the car. I have 33,000 miles on my 07 MS3 and I am wondering if this is worth the 511 dollars they said it would be. Or should I just do the regular oil changes and the other regular maintanence work. Has anyone else got the preventative mainanence done to their car and do they feel a difference and was it worth it?? thanks in advance.

Look in your owner's manual. That's what Mazda recommends and that's what you need to do. Anything above and beyond that is up to you. Unless you just drive in perfect conditions, follow the "severe" schedule.

Hmmm...interesting. Never heard that before. Mazda's definition of "Heavy Duty Driving Conditions" seems pretty explicit. I didn't think I would need to follow that living in FL (shrug)

Oh and if Lubing door hatches and hinges is hard then, im going to shoot myself. Cause if i know how to put on a condom and lube there Im sure lubing door hinges and hood locks could not be that much more difficult.

Per Mazda USA's Web site for light duty vehicles (heavy duty is different):

30,000 Miles

• If necessary, inspect, repair, clean, adjust or replace Cooling system , Fuel lines and hoses *2 , Brake lines, hoses and connections , Disc brakes , Steering operation and linkages , Front and rear suspension, ball joints and wheel bearing axial play , Driveshaft dust boots
• Lubricate All locks and hinges
• Replace Engine oil , Engine oil filter
• Tighten Bolts and nuts on chassis and body

It's fast to register your vehicle on their Web site as it's a quick and easy system to keep your car up-to-date on service records and etc.

so at the end of the day, they oil the hinges, change the engine oil, and wave a ratchet at it

I had the 30K service done @ 33K, cost $344, I watched them disassemble all 4 calipers ,clean and reinstall, rotate tires, checked alignment and adjusted alignment(toe was off in both front and RR) changed tranny fluid, put a torque wrench on all nuts underneath car and lubed all hinges, changed oil and filter, top off all fluids, test drove found the tires they had put on beginning of winter seemed a little out of balance so they balanced all four again. Russ Darrow Mazda in Milwaukee.
I think I got my monies worth! I am an old Snap-On Tech Rep and I have seen a lot of work done at dealerships and they exceeded my expectations.

well If i would only have to pay $344 dollars for all of that I would too but they are trying to charge me about $600. And like the guy said at the lube center was that all the fluids were ok anyways. And I have the same amount of miles as you Russm and im pretty sure that you tranny fluid did not absolutely need to be changed. but all in all $344 dollars for all of that is good. I wish my dealership said that it would be that cheap otherwise I would jump all over it. Oh well.

Being an old Snap-On Tech rep I don't trust much at dealerships!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sure it didn't need tranny fluid change but it does grind in our - temps here in WI and it couldn't hurt!
