Recirculating or Atmospheric BOV...

Please excuse my ignorance, but if I were to replace the tiny and crappy stock blow off valve we have on our speed's, with one where as I won't have to change any internals, would I get an atmospheric or a recirculating one? The reason I ask, is I would like to upgrade the BOV, but I would like to keep as much of the stock connections and piping as possible.

Thanks in advance for your help.

use the search button

you'll need a recirculating one unless you get an AFC or something to regulate and remap the amount of air the car thinks its getting. lots of threads on this

Sorry dude. I have seen quite a few threads on this, however nobody has really definitively siad one or the other is the right way to go if you plan to keep everything else stock.

if you vent to the atmosphere your car will staul out on you which obviously is problem. if your not going to change everything else or even anything else just stick with a simple recirculating BOV. if your looking for noise throw the K+N filter cone on there and you'll hear it really loudly under boost, trust me on this

Twizted is right, Since I put the K&N RU-3580 Cone Filter on,
I have had a noticable power and torque gain, and the turbo and blow off valve are much more apparent. Rock On !!!

Thanks for your replies guys. I did hear rumors that our stock BOV has a tendency to leak at idle being that it is a poor quality oem BOV. Anyone know if this is true?

Absolutely, Tim!! Did you put a bracket on it yet? I had to. But; it's rock solid now.
