Rear wheels wont come off help!?

You might have to buy a new caliper... My eBrake set screw was stripped too and I ended up having to replace the caliper.

As for that stubborn wheel, sit down facing the wheel, raise your strongest foot towards the wheel and kick the crap out of one side of the tire, then the other side. Example is 2 o'clock, 7 o'clock, 3 o'clock etc. That wheel will come off, sometimes you just really gotta whack 'em.

oh s*** you gotta be kidding me a new caliper?

there has to be a simpler solution

Try a wooden bat or the mallet method....that's what I had to do for mine.

Man, how do your guys' wheels get so rusted? I live in Iowa, right in the heart of the rust belt (I swear we still have salt on our roads now left over from winter), the most I ever had to do was wiggle my wheel slightly to get it off.

That sux tho about the bolt - although depending on how much the dealership charges you for it, you might be able to just buy an aftermarket caliper for a little more :)

My wheels have the same problem, no matter how often i pull them off they are always rusted on pretty well. I have found two methods the work, one is to use a mallet with pb blaster and heat the brake caliper with a torch. The other is to use a hydraulic jack and after taking the lug nuts off and very slowly lower the car until there is enough pressure on the tire to break it free. (I would do this very cautiously you could damage the rim or the car if you drop it to much to fast, it is just so tiring to have to pound my tires free every time i want them off)

Wheels get seized to the hub all the time up here, I get made fun of constantly when i'm fighting to get one off.

The words of advice I receive are; "get a bigger hammer" or "take your purse off"

Your not gonna hurt anything mash that thing from the inside then spin repeat spin repeat.

You're talking about the 5mm allen head set screw that moves your brake piston in or out, right? If that thing is stripped then there is no way to adjust your caliper piston and your ebrake wont work and the caliper MAY be too tight on the rotor. A new caliper from Autozone was about $120 if I remember correctly.

That's what happened to me. My drivers side set screw for the caliper piston was stripped. I put new brake pads in and the piston wouldn't retract enough to clear the rotor and it was like driving with the brake on. I had to put the old pads back in and order a new caliper, then replace the caliper and insert the new pads. Works just fine now. IF you do have to replace the brake caliper, just make sure it comes with the extra ebrake mount and spring, mine was a pain to get off. Best of luck, mate!

i have never had a wheel i couldn't remove by kicking it. No matter how rusted it was. Put some muscle into it!

yea that screw, but it clears the pad and rotors just fine, just my ebrake doesnt work now : /

i will try my best to get it off. thanks alot guy!

Well that screw adjusts the piston for the ebrake. So since you have an automatic and probably don't use the ebrake too often, I wouldn't worry about it till you get a spare $120 to replace that caliper. The passenger ebrake will still work for ya.

i tried my ebrake, its non existent : /

but i use my ebrake very often. i guess i need to make up that 120, but are you sure there is no way to get that screw?

Mine was stripped and just kept spinning in place. Unless you try to Easy Out it with one of those reversal tools, but then the thread are still stripped in the caliper. You may be able to re-thread it tap and use a larger set screw, but I woulnd't reccomend doing that to a brake caliper... Might have to just scrounge up some cash for a new caliper, brotha...

Did you ever get that wheel off? Put two or three lug nuts on and set it on the ground. Back the lugnuts off a few turns then rock the car back and fourth the wheel should pop off.

Only undo the lugs a few turns though this minimizes the chance of screwing up the threads on the studs.

I GOT THE WHEEL OFF!

i had to use like 1/4 of the can of pb blaster.

brakes are in, but ebrake still doesnt work : /

the cables are in and in place. but it just doesnt work idk why

lugs nuts are off. kicks done. nothing.

You must not be good at kicking?

If your not comfortable with kicking it, I usually take a rubber mallet and bang the crap out of one side, and then the other, and so on until I can pull it off. My auto teacher is a freakin kung-fu master! he came up and did like a flying backspin roundhouse to my wheel and KER PLUNK! off she came
