Rear wheel air time

I ran in Street Touring last Sunday at the local SCCA Solo event and managed to place third out of nine entries.

They always post a photo of each entry and I got to "analyze" my shot going into a tight right turn. Rear wheel is off the ground and front left wheel is almost rubbing on the fender. I really wish Koni or someone would bring out a set of sport shocks to replace the stock shocks I have installed (with Eibach sport springs...no I don't want to install a set of coil-overs thank you)

That is a bad ass shot. I will be running my first event in my 2 in mid August and already know that I will second you that Koni needs to bring out some sport shocks.
 
forgot to add..I have the Corksport rear torsion bar installed, which could be why the rear wheel is lifting in the turn.

Same corner,XYZ coilovers,same r-compound tyres.
Body roll has decreased a lot,rear wheels don't lift so easy.With the stock suspension I had problem with rear wheel lift while braking,because the abs unit thought the wheel is blocked and activated the abs while it shouldn't.Now it's much better. :O)

Very interesting! Derrick, are you guys on stock suspension still?

I'm gonna need to get some pics or video at Gingerman when I take the 2 on star specs :D
 
Mine is as weak as they come, maybe one cm of lift ;-) I know its been a lot higher in the hard corners but dont have any pics, so a low speed slalom is all I have. No i dont autox with my arm on the door, I was just trying to hold myself in the car on that turn until I can get a harness.

Hey, 1cm is 1cm ok. From a photography stand-point (not that I'm any sort of photographer,) I'd imagine getting any sort of inner wheel lift shot would be difficult to get. Seeing all these 2's autoxing is really getting me amped for my first event in my 2.
 
Well I came in last place in HS, losing to a new chevy cruze (high end model) by .1 seconds.... I usually beat the cruze by about a second to two seconds in my 3 hatch with better 400 treadwear tires... If Id have slowed down and not try to test the boundaries of this car I would have lost about 2 seconds and been about where I was with the 3. On the slower tight turns i was as fast on bad tires as the top of HS was with hoosiers...which gives me a TON of hope this car will be close to a mini in performance on tight courses where on faster courses the 3's HP advantage is going to rock me a bit.
 
It sounds like some sticky tires will make you dominate your local HS class. I think there is potential to unseat the MINI's in a 2.
 
I doubt dominate as the minis have a bit more power..... We shall see
 
GRM has already did a comparison with the Mini and I think it was the fit. The Mini was faster from what I remember. The main things are how the 2 has very soft dampening. Also how 2nd gear isn't matched quite right. I think once Koni makes some sports for it though it will be interesting to see how it plays out.
 
has anyone tried 2 sway bars. It looks like the cork sport rear bar and the racing beat sway bar could both be installed at the same time. Until shocks come out for our car I was wondering if that would really stiffen up the rear or be too stiff
 
Just an update of my most recent harassment of Koni USA: "No word yet." I think that if there is a strong 2 presence at the Solo2 National's, Koni might speed up the r&d process.

Here's some almost 2 wheels air-time straight from the Inter-Provincial Challenge close to Montreal. The street touring car I was co-driving broke so I decided to try my Mazda2. Except for the bike rack on top, it was as delivered by the dealer. It was fun. Next time I flick it through the cones, it'll have my ST wheels and tires.
 
The bike rack really adds to it! How did you do against the other cars in your class?
