I need a rear right caliper and bracket with all the hardware included ASAP!!!! I was putting in new pads and rotors all around, whoever had the car before ****** up the rear right caliper and bracket ROYALLY. I need everything except the pads and pad hardware. Anyone that has what i need in decent shape please let me know ASAP!! my car is sitting on jackstands and it cant stay there long!!

edit: the caliper guide pin is rusted into the caliper and pulling the sleeve out of the bracket that the threads go in to (i am not talking about the guide pin with the hex head).

I'm afraid they will grip differently. I'm going to try changing the guide pin bolts (cut it, drill it from caliper, channel locks on bracket side) and put new ones in. I don't think they lubed them up when they did the brake swap last

Get two re-manufactured calipers...

The previous owner did nothing wrong to your rear calipers, they failed because they're poorly designed. Feel lucky that they've lasted this long.

So there's no way to rebuild them or salvage them?

Yes, Mazda sells a rebuild kit but it doesn't come with replacement slide pins or a new piston. For the time and money you'll spend properly rebuilding your calipers you're better off getting professionally rebuilt ones (check amazon or rockauto for the best prices).

They will grip differently no matter what m. You actually manually adjust them and there is no way to get both sides perfectly even

Well the caliper works fine, the two guide pins that hold it to the bracket are the problem. The HEX HEAD ONE CAME OUT, the SLIDING ONE IS RUSTED INTO THE CALIPER SIDE AND WILL NOT BUDGE. I cut the guide pin (sliding one, bottom one looking at it from the side) that's stuck. The bracket side, the threads are rusted in but I'm pb blasting the hell out of it and eventually figure out a way to back it out. The caliper side, I gotta use easy outs or something to drill it out, it's completely rusted in the slide hole. I want to try to save what I have before buying a new set of calipers and brackets, money is tight.

You can't know for certain that the caliper still works, it most likely doesn't...

But if you insist that you want to re-use it, I might be able to help. The slide pin that's caught in the caliper shouldn't require drilling since it's caught in a rubber bushing. If I were you, I'd stick it in a vice, and beat on the pin with a hammer. If still doesn't budge (I'm pretty confident it will), heat the surrounding metal and try again. You just need to loosen-up the rubber, don't get anything red-hot.

Then you'll need to buy new bushings and slide pins. Rockauto has them for a decent price:
Before rushing into anything, please make sure that the parking gear adjuster gear still turns otherwise you really will need to buy a whole caliper.

It sounds like you haven't read the service manual yet, please do before proceeding, there's a lot of very useful and important info in there. Here's a link to the whole thing, chapter 4 is about brakes.

Thanks a lot man. I new it worked before I tore everything down bc I barely had pad left and it made a horrid noise when I hit the brakes only on that side. I have the pins and bushings and I'll read the service manual.

yup make sure you crease the slide pins.
I also had problems with my calipers.. i stipped and broke my 2 bleed valves and had to change calipers..
you cant just change rear calipers how you change front.. the rear calipers have a gear screw, so you cant just push the calipers back!

Yeah I know about the gear screw, horrible design with these calipers. All other corners are done but this one. Gonna look for a set of easy outs today at work

Did you get it figured out? I still have my rear calipers just collecting dust after swapping to mz6 brakes.

Drilling out the slide in the caliper is probably the best option. I dont think the easy out will work on it but will work on the bracket side. but I think PB blaster, vice grips, and maybe a propane torch will get the threaded side out. the only concern i have with drilling is drilling thru the caliper, so pay attention to how deep your drilling, and try to match the diamiter of the bore. Im fairly sure we can salvage it.

Scott we can try, and Larry I have what Scott said to do. If that doesn't work... Do your old calipers still work...? Lol

Obviously I was too busy to log-in the last few days but I sent you a PM. lol
