Rear Quarter Panel Replacement.

:
2002 Mazda Protege5
So, just like everyone else with a P5 who is even moderately near water or snow or the rust belt, my wheel wells and rear quarter panels are totally shot.

Rust holes all the way through, probably not too pretty on the actual structural end either but I haven't looked deep enough to know.

I'm trying to sell the car now, (if anyone near Nebraska is looking for a P5, give me a shout!) and would like to at least make it more... presentable.

I found these for sale, but have never done major body work myself. I restore vintage motorcycles but that's a whole different thing.

How do you replace a rear quarter panel?

You have to cut out the old rusted arch and weld in the new piece.

There is also some special glue that can help.

I personally wouldn't even attempt it... most people take it into have it done professionally.

Its REALLY hard to get good looking results (and you need to know how to weld)
